NEW Land Rover Defender 130 | First Look & Drive (4k)

I thought the 110 was ugly, oversized and overpriced but Land Rover have really excelled themselves with the 130. That they couldn't produce a fold flat interior or at least have the rear row fold flat at this price level seems like a ludicrous oversight. I assume the 5 seat option gives a flat floor in the boot but that would make opting for the larger model rather pointless. I also noted from the video that the third row passengers cannot even see out of the vehicle.

The biggest problems I have with this new Defender are the poor max payload and no option for a manual gearbox and air suspension. I have a 1999 130 TD5 which has a much higher maximum payload, 1300 kg compared to 850 kg for the new one and this new Defender feels like a huge step backwards for commercial customers compared to the old one. I think that by not offering a commercial version with a manual gearbox, proper suspension and a decent payload, Land Rover have lost a big chunk of their prospective customers. I certainly won't be buying one, I will most likely end up buying something like a Ford Ranger or an Isuzu D-Max.

The problem with all these SUV's is that often people are looking for the same comfort as a S500 or BMW 7li in the second row. Seeing how tight things are in the second row (it's minimally comfortable, whereas I would hope i would have the same space in the second row as the Land Rover ultra luxury package with 4 seats and laptop trays)

i like this more than range rover.

third row window if openable in emergency it will be perfect my children won't hesitate to sit in third row

Ok, the load space is longer. But for use as a super comfortable five-seater with huge loadspace, why would I spend £120k on this instead of £130k on the 7 seat Range Rover? The interior luxury and quality is incomparably better, the load space is still vast, the off-road ability is still incredible. I think you have to REALLY want to portray a certain rugged image to essentially opt for a vastly less wonderful experience in daily use.

Ive seen numerous reviews of the 130 saying room in the 3rd row is plentiful. But NEVER seen a review with three adults in the back? Sat in one in a showroom and no way can three adults fot on tje 3rd row comfortably. Three kids, yes. But average adults, forget it

Black looks naff, but what that particular market wants. I would get laughed at turning up at the yard in a pimped out chelsea tractor. Sadly most people can’t even park the evoque. Us horsey girls drive trailers/lorries so easy for us. It’s a good disco 6

I own a Land Rover 130 -the Puma 2013 model. It is called a 130 because it has a 127 inch wheelbase. What is the wheelbase of the new Defender? It looks like it has a big overhang at the back. How does that effect payload?
