Ответитьmaking cookies for someone who can’t have butter.. have you ever tried this with vegan butter? i’m going to use earth balance sticks. just curious if you’ve tried and have any input. regardless i will come back and update you on how it turns out!
update: i subbed the butter for earth balance unsalted buttery sticks (same quantity that the recipe called for) and it turned out AMAZING! they’re perfect! baked nice, taste delicious, and held their shape with nice clean vertical edges. thank you for this recipe it’s sooo tasty!

ОтветитьI've just discovered your Channel, as I'm embarking on decorating cookies for family and friends. If I want to plan ahead and make the cookies first, should I, 1) bake them, and then freeze them, 1) freeze the dough and then bake them, or 3) don't freeze the dough or the baked cookie. I've enjoyed watching your videos. Oh, and I received my Butter Emulsion today. Can't wait to use it in my sugar cookie recipe. :)

ОтветитьHas anyone tried browning the butter to deepen the flavor? I wonder if it would make the cookies too brown? I recently started adding browned butter to my chocolate chip cookies and I’m obsessed with the richness it imparts! I also am a big fan of adding just a bit of cornstarch to the flour to soften and smooth it a bit! I don’t sub it out- just throw in a tablespoon or two and sift!

I tried using a non-Aluminum brand for the first time (used 1 tea of Bob’s Red Mill) and my cookies still seem a little dense and like they should have risen more. Is that something that you’ve come across and what brand you use? Any advice you can give me I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you in advance!

Should the eggs come to room temperature? I tried this recipe and added another cup and a half of flour. Would you suggest adding in another teaspoon of vanilla? The taste is okay, I felt like it was flour tasting
ОтветитьOkay, so I finally finished all my cookie making and it's kind of late here. Haha
I like this recipe a lot. I did make a couple of changes to make different flavors. Though the vanilla one is great.
My tips is don't over work the dough. The cookies become very tough and/or crumbly on texture. It could have also been because I tried to add color to one of my doughs the day after I had to fridge it because it got too late.
So my addition. If you want to make this recipe chocolate, or strawberry, or even hibiscus, make the recipe as normal, but add the minimum of 3.5 cups flour. then add 80 grams of powder flavor (unsweetened cocoa powder, strawberry powder, hibiscus flowers powder, what have you).
And then any extra flour if needed. I didn't need to add much flour after. Between 20g and 40g at the most. But like the video said it can vary for where you are and what not. Dough should not be sticky. If it's sticky you need more flour.
I also used this recipe to make a lindzer variation. I did the same as I did with the other flavors only instead of a flavored powder I added almond flour. I also added an extra 2 tsp of almond extract. Or I suppose you can exchange the vanilla extract for almond.
Just something I thought I'd share. I remember Emma's goodies used a base dough for her different flavors and I wanted to see if I can find a better base dough recipe and this one was amazing. I'm not a baker in general. My decorations include drizzling the cookies in chocolate. Haha. I just tinker for projects. And this was a fun one. Thank you for this recipe. It was great.
Oh, also didn't have the butter emulsion. I just couldn't find it and I needed these for Sunday. So I just went without. They came out great regardless. I'll try it with the emulsion next time.

Ответитьmy mom complained about the original recipe I followed by emma's goodies so I've been trying to find a new one. I tested out 3 recipe already (all quartered because I don't need 100's of cookies yet. LoL), Imma try this one today because it seems to have the most sugar and looks like it'll have the most flavor. Wish I had it weeks ago when I had her try the other cookies.
