Your playing, as always is f**king great! And I'm not saying this as a dig, or to be sarcastic, but I genuinely love that you have the 'product' balanced on a cardboard box. I'm not sure how I'd feel if you moved to some kind of super slick studio with multiple cameras to film these things.

Would love to hear the Helix 4cm with this unit & how does it compare to Friedman IRX? 👍🏼

Still think the Laney L5 Studio (all valve) would be a fascinating option for you. Hope you can check it out some day!

I got the 15Watt ‘Studio” model back in ‘18.
It’s a versatile little beast.
Same front panel as the ‘bigger’ bois apart from the extra 1Watt/Silent Running input jack.
2 x EL84 output stage.

I love this little amp. I have one in my studio and use it a lot for my videos into a Zilla 2x12 cab. The Lionheart is my go to and has been for over a decade at this point. Such an awesome amp.

I have this amp in a 30watt combo version. It’s pretty versatile. Clean channel takes pedals well. Effects loop works good. A lot of options. I never use the di stuff but as a amp the combo is a good buy. Bought mine in like 2016-2017 something like that I think. It’s been a while. No later than 2018 for sure. I did have a pot fail and had it replaced. Other than that it’s been great.

Jack Thammarat is a Laney guy and one great guitarist I found a number of years ago. I was always intrigued with the Laney amps because of him, but for convenience and because I don't think anyone sells them where I live, I bought the Helix LT and some Focal Professional monitors for home use...and have not looked back.

Does the shark have a name? Was that discussed in a previous episode? Kind of color coordinates with the Strat.

My less important question about the amp - How flubby/loose is the bottom end with humbuckers? I hate having to use a separate drive pedal to tighten because then to switch to clean sound you have to switch channels and also turn off the OD pedal, so you need a programmable switcher, etc. But high gain is sounding clear here with the singles. Wondering if it turds up with a bridge humbucker.

I bought and used this model about 8 years ago. The clean and crunch mode is really good. Didn't care for the high gain mode. But the clean with a tube screamer in front is good. I did like the option of using it without a speaker and it could output to FOH with speaker emulation. You can also re-amp easily for recording into a DAW.

I had an IRT60 for years and only really sold it due to size and not really needing that much power.

Was an incredibly versatile amp and at the time was priced below the competition by an appreciable margin. They make quality amps!

love the laney IRT... Also, the loud pedal is really good too for what it is and its price tag. NOt in the market but would probably even choose that amp over a synergy module....

I tried one of their Black Country Custom amps a few years back and that was very special. I think Laney just got left behind and never made their own niche over the other classic British amps and get looked over. I’ll admit I’m guilty of that

I still have an irt60 and also this one. I loved the tones but for me it was a problem that the irt60 was getting broken and needed repair all the time. The irt sls also needed repair and they couldnt find the parts for it, at least in Germany. In the Uk they probably have way better service😊

I fancy the 15w tube version a lot. Underrated amps!, Also for “abuse” as a poweramp using the return. Line out is great also…on board cabsim not so much though.

I love my little Laney Cub-Super 12 - it's very affordable, powerful and expressive, with a surprisingly open sound for its size (until you push it to stupid levels). I started playing in the '70s, when a full Marshall stack was almost expected even for a half-successful local band, so it's quite a revelation to realise just how good a 15 watt combo can sound!

Where to begin. Their heritage is one of the oldest amp companies in the uk. It is still british owned. They still make some of their amps in the uk. Used by many stars over the years. Justin hawkins plays them guthrie govan uses their powered cabs with modellers. I have several laneys over the years, mate of mide had a silver jubilee re-issue head and sold it for a laney gh100l as it burued it in terms of dynamics and tone, and the lionheart series try the 50w head and tell us what you think. Great channel, but time to put those moddeling toys away and wake up and smell the amp coffee i reckon.

I own a Laney IRT SLS 300 and it sounds as good as any amp I have ever played, I have owned dozens of amps, I currently own a friedman deluxe 50, PRS Archon 50, Marshall 205 JVM, I dare say it can hang with the big boys because it is one of the big boys, when I bought it to try I thought it would just be ok but man was I surprised, it turned out to be fantastic I love it for sure, its a keeper for me, I would suggest that any guitarist give it a try you will be surprised like I was, I had wanted one for years after seeing Paul Glovers demo 5 years ago, now I am sorry I waited so long, cheers from Florida John, love your channel.

Laney cant keep up with the competition these days. Not really bad amps, but most of the tones are nowhere near thrilling. Also they lack power to cut through the mix.
