Amalfi Coast: The Don'ts of Visiting the Amalfi Coast

How is the weather during last week of November ..? I am planning Rome, Pisa, Florence and Venice during last week of November to first week of December. Needed your suggestion on the weather, if it's ok to visit Amalfi during late November.

Water taxi is great for the Amalfi coast. Even with a car, it is best. You are at the water, not walking down from parking somewhere, if that is even possible.

The place is very good, but luckily I saw this video to know a lot of information about it, especially in the matter of driving, I might have a little trouble there

9/29/2024 just returned from 9 day trip to italy. Capri, Almalfi port totally destroyed by hundreds of cheap trinket stores and ferries bringing thousands upon thousands of international tourist! AWFUL!!!!!! All they serve is pizza and pasta who can eat just pizza and pasta oh and chicken fingers! Its a total tourist trap!!! Ill never ever go back! Oh and Naples how dare their government allow graffiti on every church and bldg!!!! Its a total disgrace!!!

I hate all these backwards tips, like "don't forget to not try the seafood" or "be sure to not check to make sure if you do or do not have comfortable shoes, or not."

I drove it and it was NOT easy. Unless you’re a driver with 10 years experience I wouldn’t recommend.

I just got back a few weeks ago from Italy. We did a day trip from Sorrento to Salerno and did a boat trip up the Amalfi coast. My wife and I thought Sorrento was much nicer and not as compact as Amalfi. I'm definitely going back.

My day driving the Amalfi coast was the best experience I've ever had in Europe. Our lunch looking over the sea was spectacular and worth the price. Two tips. Don't rent a manual if you are not comfortable driving such a car. Secondly drive East to West. We drove from Naples and began in Salerno going to Sorrento before returning to our cruise ship. You hug the wall not the sea. Unforgetable.

It's an incredible drive. Go in the off season and rent a small car. There are parking services too.

Pains me to say it, but given the massive overtourism issues I'm gonna have to say there's only one don't - Don't go to Positano! Go to Maiori instead and say you went to the birthplace of Frank Pepe (wish we did on our trip - I grew up in CT).

Don’t fall asleep on the ferry or a bus. My expensive camera was swiped right off my neck on ferry to Capri. I didn’t feel in danger while there but obviously got ripped off!

driving the coast is challenging , prices are not cheap , stay in naples or somewhere else, then day trip to amalfi coast , ferry from sorrento > positano doesnt go at night only day

We were there in early October irs was crazy busy!!

If you want a mega cheap version go to broadstairs Kent its stunningly beautiful looks like mini positano theres even Italian restaurants lol and the sand is golden not grey beach, its is free :)

Rented a Vespa. There was no way we were going to sit on those buses on a winding road .

I saw on luggage only instagram you can take trains too to those towns.

In the nutshell, your message is don't go. I avoided it and Europe in general in summer. 2023 is the worst heatwave. Too many Americans, too. I found Ulcinj, Montenegro is the third Amarfi, after Tropea, Italy. Still many bathers. The beaches are like public baths. That's European beaches.

...he just discovered hot water....i am italian and i only agree on those places being very expensive, but they are amazing places....i prefer the islands, and i find sorrento too crowded....also rent a car...do not get a driver as most will rip you off and pretend a tip at the end....about the food?....fish of course...but avoid places in the city centre, they are tourists traps, google it, read the reviews...and pls do not miss Ravello❤

Myself and my husband are doing a road trip around Italy in October so will have the car, won’t have a choice but to drive about. Luckily my husband is a good driver, I’d probably cry lol can’t wait to visit!
