Glad you keep it simple, 79 and FIXIN to go to RV PARK, right On 😊
ОтветитьRusty you are a rambling man!
ОтветитьAin't gunna work for me ?? Until next week??
ОтветитьWe listened to your fireless side chat, and when you took a swig of your Miller Lite, my wife Ruthann slapped her leg and blurted out “You Go For it RUSTY!”
ОтветитьI’m not going without power. Good for you Rusty! Go get plugged in. 👍
ОтветитьMy uncle just turned 80 loves to color.
ОтветитьIf you have the means you can. I'm hard headed and I an living out of the car because I don't want debt my house is paid for, no power since 🌀 Francine but I still use it for storage.
ОтветитьI'm with you Rusty I WANT my grid tied life back. I off-grid time as a trucker.
ОтветитьYou talking about Rusty when I lost power I have satellite and I would have to park perfectly and all this other crap finally I come to a point where I said I'm over it.
ОтветитьKnow what saved me lot of gas ? Heated seats, running hybrid heater is the best heat but a blanket and heater seat is my way Getting heat from the engine is great going down the road it's going to cycle enough to heat fluid required for heat. We're not talking seriously cold tonight 38°.
ОтветитьTOTALLY agree with you, Boss! No boondocking for me. Why? Why sit out there in the dark and cold? It is, for sure, inconvenient. I say go to the RV park and enjoy your stay in the Q in a fair amount of comfort. Can't wait to see where you go. 🙂
ОтветитьTo each his/her own. I’m in my mid-70s - have a Promaster with 400 watts solar on the roof. My electrical power system is a Goal Zero Yeti 1500x which is connected to the solar as well as my alternator via a DC to DC charger. I do have a propane heater, but rarely use it except at night if it’s going to get below freezing. I don’t have plumbing, but carry 3 5 gal jugs for water. I use a hand pump to get water into my sink. I cook with a microwave and an induction burner getting power from my Yetti. I have a ICECO dual zone fridge. I use my iPad for videos. In the early morning I’ll run my rig to cut the morning chill as well as start the recharge on my yetti. I think I’m in fairly good shape for boondocking.
ОтветитьTotally agree Rusty in full-time RV in for 25 years out of Central Oregon know exactly what you're saying right on brother
ОтветитьRemember when you were a kid and once or twice a summer you’d get the bright idea to pitch a tent in the backyard and sleep out overnight? And remember how you’d usually wake up about 2:30 in the morning cold and damp and decide that your nice warm comfortable bed was a better option? That’s the way I feel about boondocking……..😂
ОтветитьMaybe spending this winter at your home (until it sells) in Fort Clark Springs would be good.
ОтветитьI want the tv park, enjoy.
ОтветитьUnfortunately solar just aint there yet!
As far as cutting holes in your RV just dont do it!!!!! You will eventually have leaks that you just cant stop!
Boondocking doesn’t have to be about “roughing it”! Enjoying life every day is the key!
ОтветитьGood Choice Rusty 🍺🍻🍺
ОтветитьJust got a new 32 ft bumper pull trailer. The maker wanted solar packages from $10-23K! Did not pencil out. For the $23K you could run the AC a good part of the day. Did not pencil out.
ОтветитьAge is a cop out. Lots of older folks enjoy boondocking. Sounds like you just don't like the the hassle of it all, which is perfectly understandable. It's a compromise ..privacy of boondocking, which I am afraid your wrong in saying can be had anywhere you go, and certainly not at privately owned RV parks where they pack you in on top of each other ...or living on top of each other in that RV park with a electrical outlet and a water spigot.
ОтветитьSince I'm retired I'm back and forth between minimalist and accumulating stuffs 3 time s. Now I'm trying to get rid of most of my possession and back to minimalist
Ответить❤ Good Morning Rusty 🌞🌅 So Awsome at 79 Boondocking! Have Fun 🤩🙌🙏🎆👌🤞✌️👍😍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
ОтветитьGreat philosophy of life, Thanks!
ОтветитьIt's called convients
ОтветитьYou can buy a lot of gas for the generator for $1800
ОтветитьTo be honest, im 72 and ive done my share of rough camping. I want power electric water toilet,,,, comfort. Do as you wish Mr. FICKLE
ОтветитьI think some of those solar installers that come to Quartzsite have come to mine for gold.😁
ОтветитьYour set up, with power, is fine for road trips to just pull over and enjoy a few hours and then move on. Do what you want for as long as you want because at your age it could end in the blink of an eye.
Ответить👍👍
ОтветитьI like see Quartside in my rear view mirror….❤
ОтветитьI live in a ClassC, but go to PA from 5 to 6 months a year to help my 91 year old mother.
I found taking my Ford Econoline van easier as she's in a home now & it's way easier to park the van in that small parking lot. Easier on gas, I can do back country road exploring, visit folks & such more.
However, that also means portable solar panels, power stations, portable ac, small generator, etc. I travel with my pets & they need the comfort.
RV parks up there are just too expensive.
But it's a hassle trying to find places to park. It's a hassle moving the solar panels all day. It got easier with charging the power stations up with the generator. But it's also a lot of work!!
I totally get where you're coming from.
Happy Holidays! ✌🤶🎄🎅
I agree the older you get convience is everything! When you were keeping up all those gauges daily, I said too much for me. At least you tried it and came to a conclusion!
ОтветитьI hear you for sure.
ОтветитьI bet your Texas home is warm and toasty
ОтветитьYep....so much for better living through science and chemistry....LOL
ОтветитьYou don’t need to be in QS. I had been going the last three years and came to the conclusion that there are too many people. You might try Yuma. Much more friendly. I got you on the solar stuff. If your not techie you can spend a lot of money and be stuck with something that doesn’t work. I’m techie and need to chase down equipment issues from time to time. You need a workable plan A, B and C if you have time. It works for me but definitely can see your point. Been following you for years from time to time. Great to see you’re still at it! Carpe Diem!
ОтветитьGet 'em Rusty!!
ОтветитьYou do you , but I think IF I were to hold up in an RV park after giving up "all the splendors" of boon dockin'. I'd want to pick one maybe closer to a larger town. Like you were near Yuma. You'd have more nearby services (Walmart, Lowes, HD). doctoring if you need it.etc. Quartzite seems 50 miles this way or that to most anything.
ОтветитьHA!, I understand.
ОтветитьYou do You 😊
ОтветитьI love state parks
ОтветитьRusty you nailed it is am 77 and I totally agree!!
ОтветитьHonesty is refreshing!
ОтветитьEvery day is a new adventure for each of us. Thanks, Rusty!
👍👍 🌵🐶🐶🤠🐶🐶🚐🇺🇸🏜️
You are so wrong about solar. I have installed it myself and have not touched it for 4 years. Don't let the unknown scare you.
ОтветитьI totally agree. After years of long road trips, camping, roughing it, etc., now at age 72 I'm choosing hotels and quick flights. Give me a hot shower, heat or A/C and a comfortable bed any day. While I still love to read about nomads and watch their travel videos, I have no desire at all to BE them.
Ответитьyou look a sharp 60 Rusty
ОтветитьWhen my wife and I retired we sold the house and moved into a fifth wheel in a very nice rural RV park. We do not even own a truck to pull it. We still travel just not in the RV. We like stationary living and if you find the right park it can be very nice. We like having power and water and a shower and a toilet not to mention heat and AC. I wonder what these ageing vehicle dwellers have planned when boondocking gets too hard to do?
ОтветитьYou may be right. I'm 82 and I'm starting to need more work on myself than the RV. Maybe 80 is the perfect time to think about RETIRING again?
