Why do you think American cars don't sell in Japan? Protectionism? Reliability? Vehicle size? Lack of dealer support?

Is it worthwhile for U.S. companies to invest in the Japanese market?

If you're going to Japan, you can find the answer. The roads are very narrow, and parking areas are terribly small. but us brand are making very big car

When American carmakers are being outsold by the Japanese even on their home market, why would they expect to sell anything in Japan?

Japaneses vehicles are toys compared to American. The need of consumers is different as Japanese consumers can be satisfied even with Mr Bean's car due to their height roads and utilization.

Every Ford I ever owned was a piece of junk that broke down constantly, and I was buying almost new vehicles with only 20k or 30k miles. The first Toyota I ever bought went to 190k miles without a single problem

Plenty of Japanese love American cars and motorcycles, there’s even a road racing class for full-size vans, mainly the old Dodges. Probably the best daily ridden vintage Harleys are in Japan.

American build quality is horrendous. Ask any mechanic where they make their money. They'll say "Mopar, Ford, GM, Nissan, Hyundai/Kia" Our employee parking lot is only late 90s early 2000's Honda's and Toyota's, while our service drive is full of the vehicles I mentioned earlier🤷‍♂️ Keep buying them! You help me pay off my mortgage!😂

In India too, all US auto failed.
One and only Reason: They come with an American attitude- We love these SuVs, you will love them too. But never care to invest or do R&D to suit Local consumers. Very rarely one or two models grab the market but for a short time bcoz again they don't keep up pace or do R&D further to analyse demand.
- Even after analysis, they have an attitude that seems like, this is what we think is the best. The demands don't match the company's aims.

American cars don't sell in Japan because Japanese are loyal to their country, and their economy. Even in the U.S., Japanese are driving Japanese vehicles.

This is why put way of dping business with dealerships is a pain!! They screw the customers here. Maybe American dealerships need to take some hints from Japan!
If I lived in Japan I wouldnt want to buy an american or do busoness at an american.dealership! Our car mfgs are crooks, theyake crappy products and you jave to deal with the crappy dealerarships who are always looking for ways to scame yoi!! So yeah why would you want to buy american car or deal wtih an American dealership!!😅

In South Africa, there are 4x4 safari tour operators that don't allow Jeep on safaris, because the unreliability could lead to fatalities. A Geländewagen, Landcruiser or Patrol is just more trustworthy far from the city. Their wheels don't come off.

We don't like those unwieldy barges with bad handling and no cornering ability. American cars are incompatible with proper cars built elsewhere.

I reside in Japan, and I am Japanese. I myself drive a BMW and see lots of German cars on the road. That's because I think whenever people think about buying an import, they first go to Mercs, Beemers, and Audis because they associate them with luxury. Now, it's not necessarily like that with American vehicles. So, I think the challenge with the US manufacturer is: How to make their products more appealing to the consumers who buy these cars.

Same goes to American cars business they use some little tactics to fend off competition. And for China today they similar use that model but it doesn’t work as well because they are much bigger. And that’s what trade tension today.

Hi Pierre, as a renter, I really appreciate you taking up housing affordability issues.

While addressing supply side issues are important, I hope your solution is also surrounded around first time home buyers; a policy which addresses the problem of houses being treated as a commodity. It's really unfair when youngsters today are struggling to buy their first house and there are people who own 10-20 houses. These investors out bid first time buyers of today who have limited financial means.

A possible solution: Preference to first time home buyers in new housing projects; Increased tax on rental income; possible cap on number of homes an individual could own; cap on rent increases and transparent home bidding process.

It's no rocket science why American cars don't do good in Japan , as they are costly , unreliable, not practical for daily commute, and also they return lesser gas mileage than Japanese cars
