what intel macbooks in 2020 i taught 2020 was where they switched to m1

I had to pick the base 13’ up back in 2020 because I needed it for art school and it aways runs so hot no matter what you’re doing which makes the battery terrible and it makes it throttle constantly

I wish I had the chance to just wait one year longer for an M1 laptop

Intel really screwed the pooch. These temps were typical to what I experienced. Terrible, not to meet the reduced battery life. I swore I’d never buy another until they dropped Intel. Fast forward a year and life is good again with the new Apple silicon.

I realized apple made such a Strange implementation for this chip.. because i have seen ultrabook from coworker (not MB) with exact thinness and processor, his usage are vary. During the heavy task, it never had any thermal problem. The max temperature is 70* without throttling

the m1 is much better

How about Apple M1

Looking back on the Intel Macs just makes me happier about how much M1 has changed things. I can actually buy a MacBook Air and have more than enough power for my needs. Had I gone for an Intel MacBook I would have had to spend hundreds more on a 13” Pro base model.

I bought a MacBook Pro 2020 two months ago, and it is very warm sometimes. It also uses it coolers so that is make 'cooling noises'. Is this normal?

I have this machine, and if you tune a good profile on Macs fan control you can keep the cpu below 90, problem is apple won't turn up the fans by default until it hits almost 95 degrees, but if you get the fans on early it does stay a lot cooler. Also I have had it since May
