I watched this with my parents(we all absolutely loved this series, we got really invested). When Mikio called her a monster, we were all screaming, "WHY?!?!?!" at the TV. Although I can understand the reasoning why, especially since this was set in the 17th century. I mean, imagine if a husband found out his wife was stronger than him back in that time period. MAN, I've read about guys killing their wives for less. Given the mindset of people back then, I'm not surprised Mikio acted that way, but dayum, realistically it makes no sense and it is so painful to watch. She did not deserve that at all, they could've been so happy together if he just accepted her

I was under the impression this was some alternate life she imagined when she said her mom died but she reappeared during this flashback. Don’t get me wrong I loved this episode but just was confused if this actually happened to her

As mother and daughter we watched this show, both of us totally hooked, we resisted binge watching and savoured an episode a night like a rare treat !!… we are already discussing what will be waiting in London for Mizu……..long wait for season 2 😢😢

In Mikio's defense, I think his reaction is more than just his pride being hurt -- it was actually genuine fear. He clearly wasn't comfortable fighting with drawn blades, but Mizu pushed it, overpowered him, and literally had a sword to his throat. She could have killed him so easily. As someone who trained in martial arts myself, I'd freak out too if a sparring partner did that to me.

This is my new favourite show of all time and this edit was perfect 😭 There’s finally a good enemies to lovers being portrayed. I think I could cry cos this show is everything I have ever wanted and been waiting for, with all aspects done perfectly

love how the edit (also choice of music) captures the beauty of their relationship, the lingering sadness and betrayal - instead of completely villainizing the husband from the get go

She deserved better.

To be betrayed to the point of death by the person you trust and love the most, it's heartbreaking to see how much Mizu suffered her whole life.

I hope Mizu gets to just be in peace after she's satisfied I sure as hell wouldn't wanna go through all of THAT again.

I hate to say this she is almost up there with guts, kinda be funny if the two met each other.

This scene is really heart breaking because all of the things Mizu has been through she was used to hide her true self and when she finally found someone she can trust all her fears come true.💔

My favorite part of this episode that's overlooked is the reveal that Mizu is the Bride and Mikio is the Ronin. The initial setup made it seem like it was the other way around until the Bride in the play starts to dance just as Mizu starts acting more feminine.

I’m rooting for Mizu and Akemi to be together.

Yah know it's also messed up on how her mother isn't actually her mother and was a maid.

I truly believed Mikio was a good man that got killed and was the fuel to Mizu's rage. Sadly I was wrong, he is unfortunately a two faced jerk who is butthurt after he got beaten by women. Mikio got my hopes up for actually being a good man that doesn't discriminate women just because she can do what men can, and do a better job at it.

I love how Mizu's backstory about her first love is being told with the puppet show about the ronin, creating a back and forth transition till it was revealed which one of the puppet was supposed to symbolize Mizu.

God this episode made me feel so bad for Mizu.
Just finished the Finale, damn I want more.
Hope she gets the ending she deserves and finds love again.

This episode was great there were like 3 storylines going on at once and I loved the Kabuki storyline. Fuck that shit was a brutal ending to a play.

After he said he wanted to see all of her and then did and called her a monster, I was done with him.
