The ending of the movie combined with these cut scenes makes me feel like they didn't care about The Mother at all, which is quite disappointing.

I hated the end of the series but i always thought that if this is the end, they had to put a scene where Marshall take lily's money because of the bet... idk why they didnt put this scene at the end, it would be funny and make the end a little bit more watchable...

..gored by a bull... it's like writers for the Blacklist saw this and said, "Wow this is a great ending!" And went onto write a horrible ending for another show that had such promise.

Should have atleast add the scene in the restaurant with Robin and Ted with the ending they eventually made. It gave much more nuance. It showed Robin regretted choosing her career. Now it made no sense. If Robin her career came inbetween her and Barney after three years if would have come between her and Ted in just a few weeks.

All should have been added in. No need to delete them.

Just 1 more season

there is no right amount of extra scene or 10 more episodes that will make it less abruptly. Because the cast and the crew and the creators made this story so great you wish it never ends.

I am one who loved the finale and think it fit perfectly and makes perfect sense in hindsight but this scene with Robin and Ted should have been in the finale. Ted choosing Tracy over Robin without question, is essential to the story. I think otherwise people may think that Tracy was merely a consolation prize for Ted because he couldn’t have Robin, this scene proves otherwise. Ted was not Tracy’s first love and she was not his either… when Ted is telling the story it’s been six years since Tracy died and obviously Robin is on his mind… Even Penny says, “You say this story is about Mom but she was barely in it… This story is about how you totally have the hots for Aunt Robin.” That’s what the story was always about. They originally broke up because Ted wanted the married suburban life with kids and Robin wanted her career, they both got what they wanted and now that they have it finally makes sense for them to be together. As Ted says, in the first episode, I believe… timing is everything… and it was finally their time. I don’t think it in any way cheapens what he had with Tracy but I can see how some people may feel that way. This scene would have went a long way in that regard.

I think that the context of the cafe scene is when Tracy is sick. After Tracy died, Robin and Ted started to have frequent dates as friends until the scene when his sons cheered him so as to start a relationship with the Aunt Robin because it was obvious the chemistry between them.

Its obvious Robin is not happy with her life. She was hoping her and Ted would get back together but Ted shoots that idea down. She see's that everyone else is happy with their life and all she has is 5 dogs.

Well the last episode was hell of a roller coaster ride..... Made me emotional. How they create these characters and make us part of their lives too. Its amazing.. Very nice sitcom aa good as friends

They didn't end up together. There's always going to be this loose end. Why?

Some of the twists and turns in this series were as lame and unbelievable as Game of Thrones .
The whole Barney /Robin think was ludicrous .
robins character was presented and developed to have a nauseating distaste for phony arrant fools like Barney and then suddenly that huge part of her character disappears ? crap writing

Honestly even without this lunch scene I think it was very obvious that Ted didn’t settle for Tracy he was very much in love with her and was with her for 11 ish years. In every on screen moment they shared you could tell they were meant for each other

There definitely should’ve been more scenes leading up to robin in Ted in the finale but in my opinion it still makes perfect sense. The last few episodes were pretty rushed though and left out a lot of things

Why did they cut the lunch scene with Robin? That was so important and could’ve saved the shows ending, cut Tracy’s death and give Ted what he deserved.

Lol that howd you and mommy meet was great. I hate how selfish robin is in the lunch scene but if they wanted to keep the ending they took they shouldve left that in. They shouldve also had ted not do the major problems salute showing he was happy but again if thats the ending they wanted for him to be with robin that scene was important for it.

I think that 31 days in august was shown originally when the show premiered the episode. Because i Remember seeing that and ive never watched any deleted scenes from this show

Here's what I'm thinking, add this and by the time Tracy passes, it's the kids urging Ted to go to Robin. Because the ending we got made it seem like one of Barney's plays in the playbook, he manipulated the kids so that he could get their permission. But if say, they added this scene, then the kids would realize that Robin still has feelings for Ted and realize that with their mom gone, their dad deserves to still be with someone to grow old with.

This is the frankly my dear I don't give a damn for our time.

So that was the real story of how Robin became a bull fighter.

i think i would have liked this ending

Robin and Barney’s wedding really needed to be shorter. The ending is fine, could be considered great actually, if we had more context. It was simply rushed. Although I didn’t mind the wedding focus throughout the season, it developed a lot of characters, it’s what ruined the ending. The season was rushed at the end. Just a few extra episodes to fit the context in about how Robin and Barney got divorced, how happy Ted truly was with his wife, etc. Then ending with a funeral and the jump back to present day would’ve fixed A LOT.

That lunch clarifies and fixes so much and the bet wraps up a running joke in the show. I wanted to see both. Better yet, I was expecting to see Marshall pay Lilly the money for the bet or say “not yet” when Robin was getting married. And then either being paid or paid back at the end.
