Does anyone suspect that there are components from pro tools (not the pro tools FIRST) in this video? I'm not sure all of these displayed features & components are available in pro tools FIRST (even they are available in pro tools).

Pienso que el programa le falta muchisimo por mejorar, especialmente por el hecho de que nos obliguen a tener una cuenta y una conexion a internet para "Sincronizar" solo 3 benditos proyectos. Y ni hablar de la cantidad de errores que tienen al arrancar y al editar.
Y como muchos de los usuarios que han comentado aqui, tambien pienso que es una GRAN perdida de tiempo a un programa tan limitado y lleno de problemas.

installation was hell! zillion error messages, and it instantly crashed when changing buffer size, gave me BSOD, pro tools forums are a nightmare of troubleshooting. this is the most user unfriendly daw EVER. absolute crap!

Avid Protools First (2015.01.22)(Protools 무료버전)

I was going to give this a shot... and was excited to do so, even with some limitations... until... i learned you can only have a maximum of 3 projects at anytime (stored on THEIR cloud)... you can burn a song to disc if you want to start a new project... but the old one will be gone forever... unless you want to pay avid to increase your minimum ALLOWED projects... UMMMM... NO THANKS!!!

the only thing i dont like is not being able to use my axiom air mini 32 hyper control function ..disappointment

Give Reaper a try, or even Mixbus (new version came out recently) both really affordable.
I agree that till this day most of the big studio and artists uses Protools. It is easier for them to transit from the studio to there home studio or to send to mixers and mastering engineers. But slowly this will change. Younger artists, with a lower budget, and perhaps a different mindset, will often choose something else, something more suitable for them and there money. And those artists will grow from that with there chosen software, and it might not be protools. It is still always a good thing to learn (Protools) just in case. But it is not a necessity anymore. Do some research and you will see.

But again, thanks anyways Avid for your proposition.
And it is a good way, I guess, to learn protools so you can get gigs or get hired, if you are lucky enough, in a big studio. But in the end, it doesn't matter as much anymore on what you record, mix and master.

Avid, I respect your business none the less, maybe not your ways of doing business, but for what you've accomplished up to now. Maybe, just maybe, focus only on higher end market, and if ever you want to attract younger crowds, come out with a more affordable version with a little less limitations. You would be surprised to see how many people would be willing to buy your software. And none of that forced cloud thing. I understand that it can be useful for some (sharing project, session backup, and all) but some of us work offline.

Very misleading way to accumulate registrations... it takes you months to send a link to download.? Seriously? And its not compatible with higher versions of PT? AND it times out..?
All I need this PTF nonsense is to open sessions and bounce them to Audio stems and load them up to Nuendo or Cubase. I already have your cheesy PTMP 9 which its just a tool to transfer sessions from lazy "producer" with terrible audio pools to a more up to date DAW with a real 32bit float audio engine which has been around since 1997.

TOTAL WASTE OF MY TIME.

Can't use existing plug-ins and have to buy propriety plug-ins?
Can't save to the desktop and have to buy more cloud space to save more than 3 sessions?
No basic features such as clip gain?
Can't open existing PT sessions in First and can't open First sessions in other versions of PT?
No release date yet, despite being promised in q1 of 2015?

Yeahhhh.... Cheers avid, but you're losing your grip on being the 'industry standard' so I'll stick with logic x (which you can pick up for less than £20)

The fact that you cannot open Pro Tools First sessions in Pro Tools or Pro Tools sessions in Pro Tools First prohibits a key reason for having a free version.

I just called down to Avid's corporate sales office in Massachusetts. The sales representative I spoke with can neither confirm nor deny that the software will be released today despite the fact that there are multiply locations on their website stating that it will be released Q1 of 2015, making today the very last day possible to release it. He said if not today then "soon." Just keep waiting, my friends... "Soon" may be sooner than you may think... Or not.

So when is it out???  my Pro tools Express doesn't work well in my Mac because of the Yosemite update and i haven't been able to use it. Please i need that pro tools first!!!!!!!

I asked if there will be any more updates for ProTools express,  got no answer....um... so Im guessing I have to get on some kind of support plan to get an answer??? lol

just seen both pro-tools 12 and first ads - why do they have to use some of the most cliched appallingly tedious edm music that's been RUINING our fucking music airways for the last 10 years, none of these artists are a patch on the innovators that came before.
until people can start using these DAWs with more imagination and flair I think there should be a worldwide ban on them.

I'm currently an Ableton Live 9 user and although I'm not working with professionals in the studio just yet, I will be soon and that's going to require me to learn Pro Tools since its in every major studio. This should be a good transition where I can learn the ins and outs of Pro Tools before I purchase the real deal. Good stuff.

Pro Tools "Free" can store a whopping THREE sessions before Avid wants some money from you.  So this is basically a demo version of Pro Tools.  The way Avid is managing the product I think I might be somewhere near Pro Tools "LAST."

When it comes out please?

BTW, to all the people saying this is too little, too late.  Pro Tools had a FREE version back in the early 2000s that worked on your computer's built-in sound card.  What happened to that, well, you can ask Avid who bought Digidesign back around that time.  They re-market this like it's some new, great thing.  They already had it!
