Elite Dangerous Horizons - Base Assault: Quick & Dirty Tutorial

i like doing base Infiltration with an SRV alone sometimes, to challenge myself with my repair, refuel, and other synthesis stuff, aswell as target, and power management, distribution, driving, and racing to a ship pickup point fast enough to use it to 1v1 a nearby ship on the way out, before it blows me or my SRV up.

with my dual joystick and pedal setup, I can control my srv like a tank, and roll around dispatching of small AV turrets and skimmers with eaze.

and here I was dropping down 1 KM away from target, and slowly blowing my way through the base and taking several minutes to shoot down all the generators

How do you lock your cannons on the goliaths/skimmers? I can't seem to be able to get a lock on them.

What kind of mission did you accept in the first place. Was it destroy the generator or something like that? And it all looks nice but what about if you have to deal with air defence aka hostile ships that keep spawning.
I am using the gunship but I only take skimmer missions that is destroy 8 skimmers on that base etc. Pays well and don't really care about the bounty... Anyway in this game what I came to realise was that you have to do dirty work and be a bad guy in order to get more money

WEll done. Thanks, great video. I just got ED on my PS4 PRO and did all the tutorials. The advanced fighter training session is impossible for me. I would like to do just what you did here. Fly to a planet, take out their main defenses etc, release the Rover and check it all out. I'm gonna power up my entertainment center and do some more Elite practice. I just wish we could know with certainty that there's a VR patch coming for Elite on PSVR. This game was build for VR. Happy flying and happy gaming.

I'm trying to invade a level 3 base like yours managed to destroy all turrets but the base has air support as well, it spawns ships every 5min can't do it!

3 chaff seem excessive you should buy a point defence for the misiles

Good tutorial, the only things I do differently is I spam dumbfire rockets against everything except the goliath as the AoE clears it out in seconds, and then I land on the landing pad on the base itself so I can easily drive to the array.
I did it on the 2nd and the 3rd jan to get from Empire rank 10-12.

Thanks for the tip on the Anti Aircraft guns, I was using Plasma Accelerators to no avail. I thought the only way to get them was to blow up their generators on the ground with the SRV. Great video, thanks.

Seems like a Fer De Lance with a fixed class 4, good shields (800mj) and speed would be good for this.

Do you have a specific build for doing this, or just slap anything together that you can afford? Just curious if your Asp is a full A-fit, or if you can get by without top tier internals.

I did this with the Conda and 8 lasers.. Works well. The large hardpoints can kill the anti-aircraft guns at about 750 meters, while taking only minor hits from the gun.. Take it slow, with a conda, and pick them out one by one, while staying out of the range of the others. Another way, is to use only the SRV.. it's a challenge.. dispatch your ship, and ninja around the base, taking out everyting one by one :)

Are those the missile racks that are supposed to lock on or torpedoes? Haven't used them in so long but I was expecting them to do a locking animation

You can load enough all missiles and nuke everything, because everything but huge gun emplacements can be killed by a hit within 50m.
