It is impressive to conceptualise that there is a philosophy for almost everything in life. And, more so, so fulfilling that we can actually apply philosophy to every day life. The important questions that philosophy, in many cases, raises ignite and tackle important areas of our day to day lives.

Additionally, having individuals dedicating their time to tackling these real-life issues is invaluable. A topic such as this - How to be a good teacher - may look obvious and easy to overlook. However, the matter it addresses has immense contribution to our day-to-day lives, probably over generations. We can demonstrate this in a simple scenario: a good teacher, as described in this video (and whatever could be added), could actually influence a generation of individuals that would, in return, influence another generation.

This, ladies and gentlement, tells us we must think critically about things that may sometimes look obvious but may affect our lives. And thanks to The School of Life.

My 6th grade English teacher was literally the best. She was an engaging teacher with the kids (which is a good way of kids liking your class) and she was funny. Since she was engaging we all wanted to be in her class and everyone liked her. If there was more of her our school would he more enjoyable and we’d probably learn better.

Thanks for the video. Any teachers here have some ideas to respectfully bring a class back to focus if it gets out of hand? Talking like 30 students. I give high energy language classes and a lot of times in one class it gets out of control, other students say they can't work because people are too loud etc., between activities. I don't like shouting even though I see other teachers do it (done it on the past gets you no where- I'm also quite calm by nature though)

All your films are so full of knowledge and each one goes a long way to make at least for me immensely wiser and knowledgeable and every bit of it is a truth. This video is not an exception to this. But for the topic I want to share my view of a teacher. I believe in the thought that teachers can't be made to become one like an artist they are born. Thi fact is a proven track since we started knowing things from Gurus who always taught us lessons that gave us the essence of knowledge and how to hone them to pass on through generations of the fore. I am citing an example of a recent past when there lived a student in Calcutta who was known to be mediocre during his time he was in college. When he, Mr.Lalit Mohan Mitra tried to get admitted in the then Presidency College, he was rediculed and debarred from the posh institution he so dearly wanted to get in as being a third-class-passed. Later he became a great teacher of Chemistry and many students thronged to his class and after a the craze became so overwhelming that the then British Calcutta started calling him Ladly. This popularity brought the Presidency College at him and offered him with the prestigious head of the department in Chemistry in that college but he refused saying, "I am still a third-class." Gone are those days of teachers and only you are laughing stock if even tried to be one!

2. Good teachers don't get angry.
3. Good teachers can admit that they don't know lots of things.
4. Good teachers pick their moments.

Too many decent teachers are ground down by the system with unnecessary beurocracy; excessive amounts of planning and marking; increasing levels it disruptive behaviour; and poor resilience in students.
