Great review, What is the difference between the Classic and the Traditional?
ОтветитьI bought this guitar 2 years ago (2021) and it has become my #1 Les Paul albeit with a couple of mods. The stock pickups were not to my liking, although they weren't bad per se, I find the 61 series pickups to be a little too muddy and lack note definition, so I changed the pickups to my good old favorite Dimarzio Super Distortions and had my tech remove the circuit board (which I call a tone sucker) and rewire the guitar with CTS pots, bumblebee caps and treble bleeds on both pickups without the push/pull coil taps, phase or bypass which I never use on a Les Paul. I have other guitars for single coil tones. I wanted a ""Classic"" in the truest '70's sense of the word and now this guitar screams Classic! I also top wind the strings and use Ernie Ball Regular RPS 10-46 strings for much, much better tuning stability. Of course I've kept the original electronics in a box and they're put away for safekeeping. This is a great guitar and I love the neck profile. BTW, even with the weight relief my guitar weighs in at a heavy 9lbs 10oz! ... Great video! 🎸
ОтветитьStupid way to show how the knoib functions work... NOT A WORD...
ОтветитьMine weighs in at just over 10lbs... but I actually love the heft...just feels like a superb instrument in my hands....and smells sooo good too!
ОтветитьBest guitar EVER!!!!
ОтветитьExcellent video brother.
ОтветитьNice Playing! Great Video, thanks a million.. I may get myself a Honey burst version. So crazy that bypass bridge pickup feature! This is basically Jimmy Pages set up, he loves his coil splits for that tele sound!
ОтветитьI have always been a fender and prs guy. I picked up a ebony lp classic and absolutely love it. Not a fan of push pull but I just don't use them. In love with my classic les paul would be an understatement, I put the thing down
ОтветитьThe guy sounds like a bad Robbie Krieger… I think that guitar is actually hindering his abilities 😆
Jeff Beck said when he played Gibsons he just “sounded like everyone else “ JEFF BECK!
The guitarists guitarist.
Gibsons slow you down , they are seriously overpriced and the majority won’t stay in tune .
$3000-$5000 for a guitar that most likely WILL NOT STAY IN TUNE!!
Save your money and buy a PRS or something else.
I think LPs sound like shit clean anyone else?
What’s that weird tone that permeates with Humbucker pickups.. I’ve read somewhere audio people referring to HB sound having “ phase issues” due to the double coil ?? That HBs “ double the fundamental note but cut the highs “ anyone know is that accurate .. is that why they tend to sound mushy and don’t cut in a band context - too much bass and reduced highs ?? Anyone else find that ? Heavy as shit too.. even Jimmy Pages live sound wasn’t that great tbh and he was an LP master 🤷🏻♂️
So many reviews here just sound like promotional material written by AI paid for by Gibson… 🤔
ОтветитьGod Les Paul’s sound so “farty “clean ..
Get that great FART tone!!!
💨 💨 💨 and so heavy, not to mention tuning problems, fat frets, less fretboard, gotta play them like a feather to sound in tune…
Don’t know why they go for so much money tbh !
Great rock sound but they are a relic of the past these days ..
Buy an epiphone / a copy .. all the fun and all the problems with only 1/5th of the price ! 🤷🏻♂️
Excellent, I’m proud to have a Gibson Les Paul Classic 1960 (from 2002 I think)with tulip tuners & burstbuckers 🙌🏼
ОтветитьI have a traditional which I love and a studio which I don't like too much. Should I trade it in for a classic?
ОтветитьPeople who make these videos about the Gibson Les Paul Modern and Classic models, don't understand that, when you have push-pull pots, with these options, you have to have a PCB because the electronics are a lot more complex. It's not a lower-level thing, or a cheap alternative or any of that. A PCB is a requirement for more complex circuits. Trust me, I do electronics, including building robots. Hand-wiring is not an option and you wouldn't want it for this feature.
ОтветитьI never wanted a Black Les Paul, but a dealer in town had an ebony LP Classic that totally won me over ( I usually play Fender style guitars). Sounds and plays great!
ОтветитьSo i just got this guitar on Monday, and I'm wondering if its normal for the guitar to get really loud when pulling out the bridge bypass knob. I was playing using the bridge pickup (volume on 1) and when i pulled that knob everything got really loud
ОтветитьNice flows and your own style dynamics on that jam..love to hear! Impressive..word up
ОтветитьI bought this exact guitar a month ago and love it! This demo video is very helpful in showcasing all features and different sound settings. Thank you!
ОтветитьVery interesting conclusion in comparison to the "Modern". Thank you so much for another great video!!!
Ответитьthis is a really Guitar. I have the 2022 Classic Ebony... Any suggestion on pickup height for the 61s? These pickups behave completely differently than any other I know...
ОтветитьJust been offered one of these used but mint condition two years old for £1175. Too good to turn down?
ОтветитьTempted by this over a 60s standard. The QC on the ones I’ve tried are grim though compared to standard but I like the slightly more cutting sound and the feel of the neck in my hand. Only £200 more for the standard though…
ОтветитьReally torn between a classic or a standard 60's. Big differences being the weight relieved body on the classic and more figuring on the top of the standard. I've seen newer classics as low as $1500 on reverb which is a steal. Tone-wise I've always found weight relieved bodies to be a little thinner in the lows compared to solid Les Pauls, but it's pretty negligible.
Ответитьi have that one
ОтветитьJust an FYI... your playing is good... but the recording quality in your videos is not good. Maybe get a good studio engineer to help with that. Again I like your playing and reviews... just not the recording quality...
ОтветитьLove your work pushing this guitar through its paces.
ОтветитьDarn good pickin' kid!👍
ОтветитьDang, just bought an LP Modern from zZounds and now here's this beauty, and of course I gotta have it.😆
ОтветитьI've played or owned several Gibson Les Paul models from a studio to custom shop. I bought one of these to add to my collection and I completely agree with your review...at least mine is extremely well built... perfect... and the 61 pickups are on the very top of my list for the best sounding pickups ever. I have these same pickups on my Gibson SG 61 reissue. They are extremely clear, warm, bright, and punchy... incredible. This cherry finish in the light is beautiful too. Not sure why in the world someone would want a heavier non weight relieved guitar than this other than a custom shop. Custom shop picks expensive mahogany that is very light compared to a standard or other cheaper Les Paul...so they are fairly light without having to weight relieve them. So buying a standard non weight relief to get better tone is a placebo. Tone doesn't get any better than on the classic. The coil tapping on Gibson really is a joke though next to PRS guitars. Gibson really needs to up it's game in that department. Nice video review!
ОтветитьI've been a Fender Player for about 15 years. I finally decided to get a Gibson and the Classic was my choice because of the slim 60 neck and push pull options. I absolutely love it. Tone is great on its own or with pedals. Does not disappoint. Many of my friends that get to play it will always comment on how great it sounds.
ОтветитьHello, I have the exact same model and it feels a lot heavier than 3.9kg.. are you sure about your weight measurements?
ОтветитьThat bypass push pull works well if you cut some volume and tone for your rhythm playing. Just pop it out for a brighter and louder lead tone. Its nice to set and forget the volumes rather than fidgeting with it while playing. I also thought it was a weird feature at first but surprisingly its my most used push pull.
ОтветитьIs that cool backing track available somewhere?
ОтветитьI love the color!
ОтветитьHuh. Mine came with the classic brown case. THANK YOU!! I knew I had a very cool guitar. Mine is exactly what you you're showing right here.
ОтветитьYou are killer player, very, good! That's how you do it.
ОтветитьThank you for a great review! I'm in the market to purchase one, just like the one you reviewed! Keep up the awesome work!
ОтветитьI'd love to play it and to be able to play it like you. :)
ОтветитьIn November I landed a 2019 translucent cherry for 1200! I love it. That bypass push pull confused me so much! I’m glad it’s not defective and yours does it too. Can’t wait til you hit 50k and and I win that beautiful green Paul!
ОтветитьI have this specific Gibson model and it is terrific!
ОтветитьLove this red classic’s look but frustrating its a 60’s slim neck only. Come on Gibson and make a 50’s neck version!
ОтветитьGreat tone. Great blues jam!
ОтветитьIt sounds like an extremely versatile guitar. I love your method of demo. So many others get it wrong!
Ответитьojalá , puebes algun dia una Les Paul goldtop p90 classic 2018, es la anterior a la goltop standard p90 50s, saludos y felicitaciones por tu canal
Ответить50k otw!
ОтветитьLove the out of phase option!
ОтветитьI know it's definitely not the point of this demo, but I like that case a lot.
ОтветитьI'd love to trade my 2013 les paul signature t for one of them...love the red
