In Don't Starve, you are but a peasant trying to survive whatever horrors the Constant throws at you, until you either (forcefully or not) take its ruler's place or die.

In Terraria, you are a legend, starting from the very bottom and climbing the ranks as you go, taking out the Moon Lord's forces, and eventually the Moon Lord itself whilst also attempting to fend off or purge one of two (or both on the Drunk/Zenith seed) world-corrupting plagues and the Hallow. By the time you get your hands on the Zenith, you have pretty much attained godhood. At that point, if the Moon Lord is Cthulhu, you are Nodens in spirit and power, having built a whole village from the ground up to defend your cause and discovered almost all there was to discover within your world, and perhaps even a multiverse's worth contained within a single screen. And should you choose to begin anew in another, whatever horrors await you there shall know a swift end.
