Hmm. Feel like its Borderlands in a way (lots of guns; obv though not as many as Blands). As some of these guns i didnt even see in my playthrough. Looks like i have to have another go at it. This time on the Series X

I saw in the old version of the game the tyger claws palm tat actually has a chance to miss shots. If that’s the case you’ll want the actually cyberware not that so you don’t miss smart shots

For me Carmen dropped off of some bharghest guys near some tents and watch towers in dog town killed a bunch and found it on the ground

what I really dislike is that cyberpunk does not offer alternate fire, say a masamune or the nowaki as single or full-auto shot, would love to experience that. prolly cause of gameplay reasons so the guns play differently and do not get boring, but I would like to have them like in stalker or other games where some weapons who do have the option have alternate fire. same with some of the pistols really, let me select if applicable. my favorite would probably the ajax or kyubi, but something that does not even make sense lorewise are the big ass magazines with just a few guns... like... how does that work? are their spacers in between? if they are bigger calibers, the barrel would have to be bigger too, but then you can also just make smaller magazines. also their rate of fire is slow AF if you realize you look at a assault type weapon. does not make any sense to me. again, probably gameplay reasons cause otherwise they would be too OP, but took me out of the immersion a little, gotta admit.

I know they are more flavor pieces than anything else, but it bugs me that four of the best weapons in the game are acquired when the player has almost no time to actually use them before the game is over.

Hey sam the Barghest Copperhead with Swiss Cheese gets to 80% armor penetration. Slap a firecracker on that and it shredds everything

When I first did the sun ending I only got pride. It never did give it to me.

Pride, with a short scope and a silencer make one hell of a stealth pistol! I'm able to one shot most enemies with it.

hercules shoud've been a LMG

I love the design of Hercules

Automatic weapon builds definitely feel the ammo pain. Pistols, shotguns, snipers, and precision rifles can be fired at will at the spongy enemies of very hard without ever even thinking of crafting or buying any, but LMGs, ARs and SMGs - especially builds dominated by one exclusively - definitely require you to ensure you're stocked up before a fight.

Ive been using Psalm my entire 3rd playthrough that ive been doing, first on very hard. Along with other fire weapons and thermal gorrila fists its been fun

I love the umbra. Sure it can’t have a scope but it feels really nice. Its lower damage is barely noticeable with salt in the wound. It’s a laser. Despite the lack of a scope you really can beam people with it. It feels like a good traditional assault rifle. I love its firing speed and lack of recoil. I personally prefer it over the copperhead. The copperhead kicks a lot more.

It makes no sense to me that 6th street are into guns that aim themselves. I would expect them to be the biggest haters lol.

I tend to grab up Psalm 11:6 as soon as I can, and I keep it close until I can get my hands on Moron Labe, which I use for the rest of the game. Hawk is great, but I tend to use it more as a precision rifle than an AR, and Prejudice is... well... low on my list of favs.

Fun side note on the quest to get Divided We Stand. If you leave that mission till later in the game, and have done some pretty significant gigs in Rancho, They attack you even if you won the game fair and square, with some funny comments from one of the 6th Street gangers.
Not sure what gig(s) trigger it... but was a fun surprise I had not been ready for.

I found personally the DA8 Umbra to be very controllable early on, better than the Copperhead at spitting out damage if ammo-hungry. Of course, it takes too many resources to still use it once you get some assault rifle perks and the Copperhead becomes the better laser beam but it's my beginner's choice.
The Masamune is slow and sluggish, arguably on par with the copperhead in terms of game feel, and I would personally knock down the base Kyubi one or two spots.
Psalm is interesting considered it's a unique you can get so early on and the only way I can enjoy the Copperhead, I can jump around targets long before they're dead as the fire status does good work on them.
Overall I don't really feel like using assault rifles after I reach a certain point in the game. My general preference weighs towards louder and prouder guns or the satisfaction of taking large chunks out of someone while staying behind several layers of physical cover, though I did play both stealth and smartgun builds where I liked the Kyubi over the Ajax as suppressed gun and Divided we Stand is both great fun when skilled in as well pretty much the only smartgun that pools from the assault rifle ammo type.

Currently on a play through trying ARs...the Moron Labe is trash imo, having a lot more success and fun with the Psalm 11 6 ( Yet to get PL yet to try new guns). Will go back and try it again with your recommendations (more hip fire) but is currently very underwhelming for me.

Might be interesting to make a smart weapon only comparison, given, as you mentioned, they being in a separate tree in INT and all.

Umbra xmod2 is extremely strong imo.

Psalm is really underrated here. You can get it so early in the game and it can carry you all the way.

Putting copper head at 15 is more then understandable, but damn do I still love the feel of it.

the ajax is OBVIOUSLY the ak 47 immitation... from the stock to the grip and the slower fire rate with powerful rounds... not to mention 30 round banana mag... common dude

For me the Hercules is my Netrunner's answer to Smasher when using the Militech Canto. The deck's main power (Blackwall) is useless against him so you have to depend on the other 4 slots. Slow him down then unleash Hercules. When his team comes in Blackwall them then, once they are done, go back to slowing down Smasher and hit him with Hercules until he goes down. Other than that it is great but I prefer more stealthy weapons in most gigs and only bring him out if things get too spicy.

I did a assault build recently because I wanted to try the Nowaki that rogue was using in johnny's memories. After it all i ended up with a stealth Kyubi;
E255 is hands down the best scope for assault rifles; it worked amazingly.
Hawk: i used it for 5 minutes then went back to a standard Kyubi; #1 you can't change the scope to the E255 #2 tagged enemies loose their tag after 15 seconds EVEN if you tagged them manually; this ended up in trash tier for me because I manually tag everything and this got annoying very fast.
Also smart weapons, you're meant to find a corner and shoot around it. Rule #1 of the smart-battle-field, attack a target without presenting one.

I use to love playing with machine guns until I used your Sandevistan build with only swords and knifes. Now using a gun feels wrong.

Hercules takes up 25% of the screen, which is a big downside IMO.
