Actually it's the other way round: babies can break down lactose, as it's necessary for them to be able to digest their mother's milk. Then later the body of some people stops producing as much lactase as a natural way to ween the baby off of the mother.

About the engagement thing, weddings take a long time to plan so three years will go be quickly! If you're trying to get the best deal, the searching for good prices, interviewing vendors/venues, learning a first dance etc all take wayy longer than you would think. Mine was a covid wedding so we were engaged for three years on accident because we had to rebook it! But if you're really in love, time doesn't matter because you know you're gonna be with someone forever. I say start planning it for 3 years from now!
