This plan reeks of arrogance. The Japanese were humble enough to recognize that they needed a 100-year plan (from the inception of the J league) to maybe win a world cup. The reason why the Japanese were so successful was because they did not neglect youth development and grassroots football (among other things). In addition to working hard, they plan long term and know that there is no short cut to success.

Contrast this with the Chinese "short cut" approach of just throwing money around and hoping to win the world cup within a span of less than 50 years.

The contrast between the Japanese and Chinese mindset is indeed worlds apart.

Unfortunately, China's football dream collapses alongside their economy.

In Chinese community, a lot of people more care about getting high salary jobs like lawyer,doctor and among others.Instead u having passion and become professional athletes on sports like football, parents weren't that optimistic, they care more about their kids has/must to be excelled at education,make their family proud and showing off to others families how good their kids even though themselves doesn't like study after all. And talk about sport they don't care that much about process,development and other things to improve anything,result talk first which is the most saddest part. As a Chinese myself, If I have option and money,I rather spend more money to go another country like US or Europe top football/basketball leagues than staying and watching own league cause the sport atmosphere differences are too much

Not gonna happen you can't force people to play a sport where to be honest there is no football history or culture chinese people are more interested in individual sport them team sports... And if population would have been the game changers then teams like Croatia and Uruguay would never qualify for a worldcup.... Any team sports need culture and ultras back by strong history of rivalry... Their biggest rival is US which are also not good in football...
Being an indian i say guarantee one thing that in coming years india will be the biggest asian giant in football... We have rich football history football club ultras and rivalries dating back to late 19th century... Somehow we lost the touch after 1990s and cricket gained for popularity... But we are coming back... In 1950s and 1960s india was known as the brazil of asia... We had such skillful players... Such were our dominance in asia.. And mark my words india will be the first asian country to lift fifa world cup..

What a joke. Name a national team player from China that plays in a top European side. To be the best you must compete against the best. The League in China is garbage which is why no top players go there. Hulk and Oscar are not top players and lost their own spot in the Brazil national team by going to China. You can build whatever academy you want. It means nothing when most of your players are in a mediocre league. Just look at the USA as an example.

people talk trash about CSL (chinese soccer league) but i watched a handful of games and loved every game and wish there was a channel to show the league in the U.S. There is no flopping thank goodness and the level of play was top notch! The leagues should have an english site and blogs/vlogs/podcasts with everything about the leagues of China to get exposure.
