Thanks for the Sun Poisoning info. I'm very susceptible - I get sun poisoning and 2nd degree burns (sometimes bleeding thru my skin) in less than an hour of strong sun. It is SO hard to explain that to people. They think I'm just trying to avoid hot weather (and I really don't mind heat, ironically).

Someone killed my dogs with 1080. I live in rural australia and its common practice to put baited meat around farms to get rid of foxes here. Our dogs were border collies and they were kinda loud sometimes so someone put the meat just over our property line. It is veryyy hardcore and will definitely kill your dogs in a horrible way please be careful about these baiting practices if you live in rural australia an make sure nobody comes onto your property. Protect your dogs

When I was in 2nd grade (40+ years ago), our teacher brought in a cup of mercury. One of the kids spilled it on the floor and the whole 2nd grade spent time picking up the little gray balls. It was fun at the time but now I worry if it affected me in some way.

I kept thinking to myself whenever I hear or see people refer to snakes being poisonous or something else like bees or ants and or being confused about what's what, in caveman language towards myself, USUALLY, "Bad eat bad bite"

I poisoned myself twice as a child. I once drank camphor oil, for some reason. Don’t have any memory of that, but the ER Doctor was waiting for me outside of the entrance by the time we got there goes the story. And later in life, I ate about 30 Flinstone’s vitamins, sneakily. That was my introduction to Ipecac, and that was not enjoyable. Sorry for the worry Mom and Dad. Lesson learned with the Ipecac, that was f’in horrible, and forever burned into my memory.

The fun thing about being a chemist is that it's a helluva lot less toxic and safer than quite a lot of the stuff we use! ~600 mg? Of a nice, non-volatile crystalline solid? Just don't add acid/use in DMSO and you're almost certainly fine!

Only curious because I typically drink 3-4 liters of coffee (I have a 1 liter ceramic beer stein for a coffee mug) within my first 2 hours of the day. 16L is my average daily intake, and 1 liter is just shy of 34oz...

Just want to remind people not to drink venom as a party trick. Although it’s theoretically safe since it needs to be “injected”, if you brushed your teeth a little too hard and got a cut in your gums the venom can still enter the blood stream and kill you.

I’ve had sun poisoning. It’s AWFUL. I wouldn’t wish it on literally anyone. I had it across my shoulders, the back of my neck and my armpits. Blisters everywhere.

Poison is a consequence/effect.
Venom is a choice.

Injection = venom
Ingest = poison
