Dirty Dängle Lovers! Who's in love with the Mammoth? Or what do you use?
ОтветитьYou can get that sound using fingers. Just have to play with the settings
ОтветитьKick ass tone - thanks!
ОтветитьIdeally you need an umlaut on the A of your Dängle. If you don't have that umlaut, it isn't going to be metal.
ОтветитьWhat is IR? 😅
ОтветитьHello Kohle, watched your tutorial yesterday, thanks! I tried the Mammoth yesterday (together with your compression/EQ approach, but I was little bit confused about the level of distortion you reached with Mammoth in your video. I recorded my Dingwall NG3 with fresh stainless steel strings, peaking about -10dB, but I had problems to get a significant level of distortion with Mammoth (though input level turned up to 15). I was cranking up all the features but it doesn't sound nearly as pleasant as your recording. I don't get it ... maybe you have an idea ...
ОтветитьAlright, so i need more Dängle. Got it.
ОтветитьI thought your bass' neck's curve is horribly wrong until I realised you use fishlence (whew)
ОтветитьAs bassist I get annoyed by the “only pick is metal” a typical arrogant guitarist comment. But it is also difficult to take serious when you only replicate the guitar.
ОтветитьTone is in the hands.
Fingers are superior,
Nickel strings are superior for finger style.
How can I get that (Primus covering have a cigar) buzzy tone
Ответитьthis video is awesome. as a punk/metal bass player ive always gone after that clank dangle dangle sound and this nails it perfectly. I hate having conversations with other bass players about "real bass is played with fingers blah blah"
ОтветитьFinally! The meshuggah tone!
I really prefer a clean tone, but I need it dirty for some songs
My mf fingers bleed metal your pick cant do that 🎉
ОтветитьPleased you began with the old school approach, fret buzz, fresh stainless steel strings and a clean signal.A dip in the mids, as you observe, on the bass guitar preferably, raising your bass on the amp and you're good to go. The 'modern' (the past two decades...)approach of raising the treble and plying these plugin distortions (dirt/sansamp or dark glass sound) just vampires your tone. The old school approach defines the metal sound from finger players like Greg Christian and Alex Webster to pick players like Newsted and new metal finger and slap players like Fieldy.
ОтветитьIf you're a caveman like me and don't understand how to use DAW's, you can get pretty much this exact tone from the Darkglass X pedal. It splits your signal between clean lows and dirty highs and has a built-in compressor
ОтветитьWhat’s your opinion on Cobalt strings. They are the strings John Myung of Dream Theater use
ОтветитьReally really great Bass Tone! Love it and take much from this Video as a Bass Player myself! But... nevertheless disagree with the Pick (But that is just my style and taste as I am more of a Geezer, Steve or Cliff Type - I don't blame anybody for using a Pick)
ОтветитьMy fingers are quite good at getting that "dängle" thing! Hahahahahaha (great video!)
ОтветитьThis is just a theoretical quesiton, but would a short scale have more of a "dangle" due to looser strings?
ОтветитьThanks. Making a big differcene!
ОтветитьSo Dangle is basically forced fret buzz? Nice. Always kinda knew that deep down (lol) but now I can really hear that on your demo and mix. And then when its run through a mixer or FX you have more to work with.
ОтветитьAny ideas how I can get a tone like this live
Ответить"Picks??? We don't need no stinkin' picks."
ОтветитьFor those that keep saying 'only real bassists use fingers' I say DD Verni.
ОтветитьDid ya really refer to the E.S.P bass as the “ESSP” ? maybe I’ve been saying it wrong the whole time 😂
ОтветитьFor the finger elitists out there: try a felt pick
ОтветитьI need to win this plugin. I am broke as a joke.
ОтветитьKORN FREQUENCY
ОтветитьGreat video, I've been using Mammoth and it sounds awesome.
Your pick tone sounds better than your finger tone because you are picking with force and fingerpicking too lightly. Good metal fingerstyle bassists play using finger-strike, which gives an aggressive clanky tone which sounds great on a track. Picks are a fine shortcut to good right-hand tone, but telling every bassist that comes into a recording studio "Picks for metal, that's it," is just not accurate. You mentioned Steve Harris like he is a rare example. He has good tone because he finger-strikes, and other fingerstyle bassists with great metal tone are not hard to find. Alex Webster of Cannibal Corpse, Orion of Behemoth, Max Lavelle of The Black Dahlia Murder to name a few.
Ernieball us sterling new strings n u just got to get a good fingering lol
ОтветитьI liked the part where he said dangle dangle
But for real, guitar tone chasers are nothing compared to passionate bass tone chasers in hard rock/metal music. It's like finding that optimal slot in the mix spectrum and trying to get as clear yet overdriven punch trough as much as possible.
Great bass tone, as much as everyone loves a huge guitar tone, IMO leaving plenty of room for the rhythm section to sound big often tends to result in a more aggressive sound overall, even though the guitars might not sound as huge. One of my favorite examples is the Outsider album by Comeback Kid, that album sounds mean as hell even though (or because) the guitars leave the low end wide open for the bass.
ОтветитьVery excellent video sir! I don't have the Mammoth plugin but was able to get close ( I think ) using stock plugins from Reaper and freebies from Ignite:
Charvel CHS4
Berhinger Ultra-DI into a Tascam US-1641
Reaper
VST ReaEQ using the stock Basic 11 band Rock Bass setting with a high pass around 80
VST Ignite SHB-1: G7, B5, M9, T7, Bal 6, V6, Deep Bright and Shape on, Mono
VST Ignite NadIR: No settings changes. Orange NT2 IRs from someplace called Zuhause, though I don't remember where I got them from.
JS 3x3 EQ (1-Pole Crossover): LD% 0.9, LGdb -2.1, MD% 0, MGdb 0, HD% 10.3, HGdb 4.5, LMF 240, MHF 1440
VST ReaComp: Thres: -22.8, PC 0, A 16.5, R 205, Auto release on, weird knee on, R 4.48:1, Knee 1.3, LP 1275, HP 74, RMS 5, Wet 0, Dry off, Auto make up on, limit output on
Thank you very much for the video!!
The fisheye lens makes a great neck bender for videos LOL. Learn how to work that fisheye
ОтветитьHas anyone had issues finding getting this plugin to work within your DAW? I've got the standalone working, but i can't get studio one to find the plugin, and I've got the location setup for it...?
ОтветитьDängle Dängle
Ответитьhmmm.....it seems to me that I can use mooooooore of this ultimate dängle mammoth control right in the center when using my fingers, richtig? Because the problem is, using a plec is more complicated to me, so I would like to avoid that. I also figured out, that cutting fingernails too often, will erase dängle as well, so that maybe will be a part of the final solution.
ОтветитьMostly 9 of the 10 plugins i buy don't work as promised but this one makes me very happy. It is wurth the money. Thank you for this video and sorry for my bad englisch.
Love the channel.
Cheers
Ok no response ill try one more time, cant you suggest a setup to get a manowar joey demaio sound? I realize he olays piccolo strings and his system is all custom made…. So im looking for something as close as possible
Ответитьfinger playing can be clanky: you just need to hit the frets (which is quite ofter the case with low action)
Ответить"Today we will be talking about Dànģlè Däñģlê"
Dude speaks bass
Loudest distorted drums plugin
ОтветитьRecently started playing metal bass. How would you use this live?
ОтветитьZwei Fliegen mit einer Klappe jaja 😂
ОтветитьBuy buy buy...
ОтветитьGreat sound Man, thanks and hug from São Paulo 🤘😉🎸
Ответитьfor ten years i play my EBS multi drive in tube mode...try it, unbeatable, also for pop/rock---sometimes
ОтветитьPick... Fingers? Murderface dangles it hardest with his actual Dangle.
