ОтветитьHave a chance to have an extended test drive of a MY23 A3 40 TFSI quattro S-line since my own older A3 is service. In North America we don't get the 35 TFSI variants and all of them use a EA888 2.0 TFSI engine paired with a 48V MHEV similar to the 1.5 TFSI models. The car has been excellent - driving dynamics is a good blend of daily comfort & sporty predictable handling, fuel economy is on par with economy sedans like Corolla or Civic but with more shove, and the 48V MHEV start stop is one of the best with the exception of full hybrid cars. I also find the new MMI touch to be very easy to use, and my Samsung Galaxy S23 syncs wireless Android Auto with no issues.
Definitely a car I might be considering once my own A3 comes time to trade up.
Why can the a4 and a5 interiors not be like this 😭

ОтветитьBiggest diff. between hatchback and sedan is that your rear window on the hatchback is dirty all the time, and on the sedan its just the trunk so you wont see it while driving the car..

ОтветитьThomas, I’m really torn between the A3 35tfsi and flexing to the A4 40tfsi, both in S trim, but the price difference is consistent. Actual car is a Skoda Octavia 3fl with the 1.4tsi 150hp. Not sure if I can actually justify the price though.... what would you pick!? I drive only 5000km per year... so I probably already spent the most I can justify for the Octavia

ОтветитьThomas as far as the cost-cutting, there are apparently multiple high-touch points in the interior where Audi uses rough hard plastic. Also, perhaps the biggest cost cutting from a design perspective is how Audi exposes the body color door frames and door jambs, particularly the A, B, and C pillars. This is most evident when you’re driving the “Thomas Blue” A3. This is disappointing because the outgoing A3 didn’t have this. Really disappointing as this is otherwise a great looking car.

Love that blue colour and the interior is amazing! I like the vents, kind of remind me of what Renault did with the 25 where the vents were very high and point directly at the driver's hands, which I always assumed would work great on a hot day.
I know the car is good on a mountain road but I really want to know how boring it will be on the autobahn, on a Friday, after work... Is it boring enough that I feel absolutely relaxed and comfortable driving 360km after a long week but not boring enough as to make me asleep at the wheel?
I don't mind the torsion beam. It works great, it is lighter and it gives you more space for the trunk. What I really dislike is how VW implemented it: with the car sharing the design of the underpinnings for both suspension which means that with a torsion beam suspension vw gets a better profit margin, you get a lighter car with slightly worst suspension and handling and you don't get the biggest advantage that is the extra space in the trunk.... That is bad.

ОтветитьEverything top notch designed with a ruler 📐 It seems to me that from one generation to another you get less car for the buck... and those vents 🤯??? The gear stick got amputated as well. The Audi is becoming another run-of-the-mill car. Audi, hire the new designers! Don't let the accountants design your cars!

Ответить35 TFSI means nothing to me. Fake vents and fake exhaust. Meaningless naming conventions and fake exhausts. If you want to tuck the exhaust behind the bumper, fine but don't add features to simulate where the exhausts where. Don't draw attention to it. Used to buy VWs and Audis exclusively for two decades. Loved them since childhood. With cars like the Golf 8, A3, and others in the pipeline, I have slowly come to realize the VW Group has left me behind. Complete touch interfaces with the Golf makes activating functions difficult by feel. That stupid flipper for the DSG. Odd styling elements on the Mk8 golf. I liked the style of Mk1-Mk7 Golfs. Atleast they didn't screw up the Audis (yet). These changes make accepting typical VW Group pattern failures as a bridge too far. Purchased my first non-VW group car in a long time. There's a reasonable chance what I currently own will be the last from the Volkswagen Group. I can get more reliable fake exhausts and bad interfaces for less money elsewhere.

Let's wait and see what build specification Audi USA calls for. .. Price vs content can make or break a model's redesign. .. Audi N. America, give the A3/S3 sedan a chance - add a dash of content. .. The 2021 A3 is an attractive sedan. .. Cheers
