Let me clear up that this video is not a demo of a product. And especially not A SOUND DEMO of a product. As you can CLEARLY SEE in the title, it's asking a broader question whether or not we still need traditional amps, and what can be used to replace it, and what the consequences of this would be. I'm explaining how you can use a pedal like this, at home are in live situations. I used this particular pedal to see if it actually works with my pedalboard (HENCE THE SHITLOAD OF EFFECTS ON THE GUITAR). I made a demo of how I would use it at this particular time. Just made a little track to support it. I do not really make traditional demos, I think demos are boring. And because it's almost Xmas you can win one! Ok, bye! X
Dang you called it!!!!!
ОтветитьYes, we do. Well, we don’t “need” them, but I like them.
Just bought the AER Domino 3. My acoustic has never sounded so good.
Obviously he doesn’t like it lol.
ОтветитьAwesome!!!❤
Ответитьbullshit ! this doesn not sound like tube amp, and nver will ! this guy is selling stuff, and is sponsored, just be aware of thos Youtbers .
ОтветитьNo, next question
ОтветитьCool bro
ОтветитьBless❤
ОтветитьIsn't this the same as a multi effects pedal ? Like zoom g2.1 for example ?
ОтветитьEr, you didn’t address the question you asked or demo the amp in any way whatsoever.
This video should not have been released. Sorry, bro.
You just wasted seven of my minutes.
very inspiring demo
Ответитьagreed this is ridculous we gotta get pre post and amps then a cabient a pedal board l0l WATAFAK
Ответитьthis would be great to be updated, a lot has happened in four years......
ОтветитьSoftware is eating the world. I don't think we are at the point that it replaces all stomp boxes and all tube amps....We are getting close to a time where the digital quality will equal or even surpass the original gear.
ОтветитьI'm a simple man, I plug guitar into soundcard.
ОтветитьI've spent time in recording studios with 2" tape and 32 channel mixing boards. I've played live on stage with amps.
For musicians, we have had what is truly a revolution. With convolution, artificial intelligence, and other signal processing techniques, we no longer need amps and cabinets to get the guitar tones we need.
If I'm working at home, there's no need to piss off my neighbors. Which, I would have to do to get the best tones with an amp. But now? I can get all that deliciousness through my headphones, and my neighbors are none the wiser.
Quite a few major artists are using digital modeling / IR for touring. No more worrying about room reverb, isoboxes, club / house engineers messing with your gear. Just plug right in to the house PA and you're done.
Nothing will replace the joy you get playing in front of such power, feeling the air vibrate with energy.
But amps are no longer a necessity, and their use cases have narrowed.
I don’t know what are you talking about it
ОтветитьI started playing in 1980 (acoustic) then 1985 (electric). At that time, yes, pedals were available - expensive, but available. The was no amp modelling. As time has passed, amp modelling is all over the place - and I love it. To have one, small, relatively cheap box that can give you within 10% of the "proper" sound? HELL YES!!!! I have said to many playing friends - the audience simply do not know and do they care about your kit - you could be playing a £20,000 vintage Fender Princeton or an £80 Yamaha Solid State, all they care about is the end sound (and the ability of the person playing it). So... it really does make a lot of sense to buy a little box of tricks that can get really, really close to the original, for not much money. Same goes for guitars - I'm so fed up with "Which wood is better, how does it effect tone!?!?! Blah. Look at classical instruments... most modern performers don't even have a body on their violin / cello - it's a single plastic curve. Its the pick-up and ability of the player - that matter. "Band in a box" / "Studio in a box" really works for me - I'm an average player who wants access to everything, but nothing has to be perfect. And honestly - I've never met an audience member who could tell the difference anyway.
Ответитьif this pedal is used to replace an amp, how is the player going to hear what their playing? What's the cost for this?
Ответитьthis is an ad or what...
ОтветитьHmmm looks a lot like a "Get them to watch for 6min" ploy.
ОтветитьDumb question - answer is yes…better question is “Do we still need clickbait” and/or “do we still need Covid beards”. 😅😊😂 Cheers!
ОтветитьThis is a pretty bad review
ОтветитьMost "amps these days are props! Dumb ass
ОтветитьI remember Mooer as the brand that ripped off the software from a couple of Electro-Harmonix digital pedals and was caught because the code in the Mooer pedals still included the EHX copyright notices. No thanks.
ОтветитьMe who directly plugs the guitar into an amp…trying to feel accepted by the society here.
ОтветитьThat was the question I was asking before I heard the 5150 combo. Now I’m saving up for it.
ОтветитьI think amps are great because you get that fast frequency loop from the speaker to the pickup to the speaker then record that luscious sound
ОтветитьYour videos are really quality my brother I really enjoy them.
ОтветитьDo we really need a Porsche when we have the Prius? Do we really need a Rolex when we have the Apple Watch? Should we go to an art museum when we can see digital renderings on our computers?
ОтветитьI've been using the Strymon Big Sky HW with speaker simulate and then post processing as needed with various amp sims in my DAW, seems to work well most of the time - but sometimes only an amp has the secret sauce (at least for now). REALLY looking forward to Strymon coming out with a more sophisticated Amp sim than the Iridium, maybe with larger Big Sky enclosure - the Iridium has many good settings but I do think there is still room for realism improvement.
ОтветитьI'm actually selling a couple amps right now because the chime setting on the Strymon Iridium is pretty freakin good. The difference between it and a real amp for what I use it for is insignificant enough where it's not worth it for me to keep the amps.
Moreover, the Strymon Multiswitch Plus allows you to make three extra favorites so it's quite versatile.
I love modern tech, but at the same time i do love old tech. I recently got a Kemper, my first amp that doesn't contain any tubes. I like it , its impressive and crazy versatile but its just not the exact same as sitting in-front of a cranked valve amp that's snarling and carrying on, moving air. Through monitors it simply doesn't really cut it, cannot get feedback unless the guitar is pretty well almost touching the drivers. It is good, as far as recording goes its insane and arguably better than stuffing around micing up cabs, its a far better experience than stuff i tried 15-20 years ago like early zoom, line6 and digitech stuff i owned or mucked about with, but it is not the same as a real amp.
ОтветитьThank you for this video :)
Would Mooer's micro pre-amp work the same way if I want to run the guitar straight into the PA (in smal venues that don't have amps)?
Thank you :)
bullshit
ОтветитьFour years later: "Do we still need amps?" Clear Answer: Yes!
Ответитьshit fellas im trying to buy a Eletric Guitar and an Audio interface to learn playing the Guitar!!! I've watched thousands of videos, web pages, (etc etc)... WELP!!! 300bucks budget :D
ОтветитьThis was as close to useless as I've seen in a video. It was more of an ad than anything 💩
Ответитьyou take to long to shore the object your talking about
Ответитьalternative way to head amp without having to use a cabinet, can you tell me
ОтветитьSo what is the difference between this and a multi-effects with modeling? Isn't it, say, the Line 6 Helix, point of existence is exactly what this has and more?
ОтветитьToo much hand waving and moving the pedal constantly. Waste of my time watching!!
ОтветитьAmpless is cool until you realize how sterile the stage sounds and the idea of plug in and jam doesn't exist any more .
ОтветитьVox VT30 is not good.
It miss the HM2 on the pedal menu.
I've come to conclusion that all guitar amps are really just preamps. The valve power amp is basically just marketing at this point. It does the job and it has a sound but I'd been curious if there really was any difference between different power amps. Especially if the average person is running at between say a tenth of a watt at home and 5 Watts for a fairly loud rehearsal. When I was in a band I doubt my amp was putting out more than one watt. It just would be too loud for small venues.
ОтветитьDoes he sharpen his shoulders?
ОтветитьPaul, Yes we need a big clean powerful amp and it doesn't have to be a guitar amp.
I get more milage from RP350 and RP1000 w/modeling and a set of 1300 watt Makies.
I use EVH 5150 or JMP800 and JMP900 amp simulation. I'm always going to choose a slant V 12x4 cab simulation.
I'm a little bit crazy town and use my BOSS DD-20 and BOSS RC-30 at the end of the signal chain. Buckethead Bass Synth Wah and line 6 bass FM4 + TS-9 in front just in case.
With SMSL I can get over 100 watts out of something the size of a large matchbox, and with a good pedal and EQ I'm sure it could drive a 4 x 12 on each channel very loudly. So I could have a screaming big rig powered by a black matchbox. It won't have that tube overdrive unless it can be simulated digitally.
