Can be explained in more simple and sophisticated way rather than entering simply command and jumping from one branch to another

Nothing was explained. Commands were entered. Then those commands were verbally repeated with zero explanation. Then more commands were entered. I watched a video of someone entering commands and nothing more.

i was hoping to see how to fetch changes from another developer on their feature branch to my feature branch using fetch instead of pull so i can more selectively apply the changes instead of auto merging.
