Blind Test: Fujifilm New 40mp XH2 vs 26mp XT4 | Both using 56mm F1.2 WR

They look very similar, i got two wrong. The XH2 seems to have better dynamic range and sharper focus.

Your video got me worried for a minute, I was gonna test the XH2 with 56mm next week because I didn't like the images that came out of the 56mm and XT4... about 5 photos in, I am convinced that the XH2 is better though, so it is worth testing.

Half-body shots were quite easy to spot which is which, got about 75% of those, full body not so easy, 60% or so. The XT4 occasionally seems to misfocus just enough to make the face/eyes go out and look soft; seems the XH2 never does that, which is really good. Video on XH2 seems improved by a lot too both in terms of stabilization and focussing.

Now I am very confused. I was going to go for Xh2.. but looking at this it feels like XT4 would suffice. Not sure if XH2 is worth the upgrade. What do you suggest?

Xh2 is warmer sooc, bit more pleasing to the eye

It's hard to tell the difference on YT video (unsurprisingly, because even 26MP is overkill for extremely compressed YT material), however after editing couple of X-H2 RAWs already I know for a fact higher resolution is clearly noticeable. Even in low light 40MP gives you better results because you can get away with much higher DNR levels, and personally I always like to downsample high ISO filles to something like 60% in order to get rid of all visible artifacts from topaz AI denoise filter, so in the end I will get 3744x2490 output from X-T4, and 4637x3091 from X-H2. With a little bit of work in postprocessing I can get usable results up to ISO 12800 from X-H2 RAWs, while on X-T4 ISO 6400 is a max that I would personally use.

Next month I'm buying X-H2 despite big price difference (I can get unused X-T4 for almost half the price), because higher resolution will be helpful, and I'm also sure I will notice better AF or EVF. I also prefer how X-H2 looks (more high end and modern look compared to X-T4 retrostyle), so I hope people will finally stop asking me why I'm shooting with some old camera LOL😂 (I used to like how my X-T30 looks, but now I prefer something more modern looking).

Some of the XT shots looked darker. With a small adjustment in lightroom, you could make them look identical. Overall it looks like there is only a small difference and for some of these shots I actually preferred XT4.

1st 3 pictures I liked the XT4 more.
The rest of the pictures H2 is better.

The XH2 really can focus more accurate and gives sharper images. The highlight on her belt is very obvious. The model’s skin tone also slightly warmer on the XH2. 👍🏻

Offcourse you cant see much difference when the format is 4k

Sometimes XH2 looks like to much contrast, looks little not real. Sometimes XT4. But sharpness way better on XH2

I find that xh2 has better dynamic range and better contrast. XT4 looks close but image seems flatter to me but still very good. I’m surprised that my xh2 playback took 2-3 seconds to display even with a V90 SD card.

I think a lot of guys like me would like to see an comparison between the sigma 56 1.4 and the new fuji 56 1.2 WR on the XH2 or the XT-5...
