I agree with getting the idea down first and then getting references second. I had an art teacher who would force the class with references first and idea second, it was a bad way to teach.
ОтветитьI just wanted say great advice you got around here. Since I am a freehanded illustrator using traditional mediums, it will be an honor to make a video dedicated to those people who illustrate using traditional mediums. But since I am also looking for editorial jobs I am also looking into tips to make the portfolio better or getting started to making illustration portfolios.
ОтветитьThis was really helpful!
ОтветитьDude, I know this is pretty late in relation to the post, but in this AI infestation era, this is like a beacon of hope.
I love all the tips you listed, and I love even more the fact that you focused on process, and that is a type of information you don't see being offered for free very often.
In summary, thank you for sharing all this marvel. ❤👊
Just stumbled upon this video, and I can't wait to start applying these tips to my own illustrations! Thank you for the helpful advice.
Ответитьamazing Lucas, I have been a concept artist for so many yeras, and still learn new stuff from you. great chanel!
Ответитьomg. first the rough sketch then reference 🤯 that makes so much sense 😂 i love how you just talk about everything. I think a lot of people just assume that people know and leave out so much context. just spelling it out again helps a lot! Thank you for amazing content. And im burning to try and implement these on my next illustration!
ОтветитьGreat Illustration and very useful tips... thanks
ОтветитьHonestly this is an incredible video that showcases the power of REFERENCES! and that stealing like an artist just means to be smart about all the tools available to you. You could of course copy an image exactly but where is the originality or heart in that? Instead you take all of the resources available and mash them together to create something brand new.
ОтветитьI really like your art styles and the way you break down the art tips.
Love you so much, mate.
Thanks for all the sharing tips and please keep updating the channel.
Can’t wait to keep supporting your work!❤
Thank you!! I do trace out rough and then paint (Procreate) but should I only be using my own photos if I want to sell my stuff? I tag the reference photos I’ve been using.
Ответитьyou are my new favorite art guru!! thank you lucas!!
ОтветитьVery cool. Thanks for sharing
ОтветитьThis is the worst bullshit I have ever seen
ОтветитьNice! What ipad are you using?
ОтветитьHonestly the greatest help for me has been, after seeing this kind of art, making sure to tell myself that this is done by professional artists with much more experience than me. This helps me to be satisfied with my far worse art because I know that all of the things I'm doing, the good and the bad, are helping me become a better artist. All it will take is practice and time!
Ответить😍😍
ОтветитьGreat video never thought to tell a story for my posts thank you 😊
ОтветитьYou touched in story telling, awesome, but can you do a video in this topic and give us lots of good vs bad examples of story telling please. Thanks a million.
ОтветитьOnly problem with tip 2 is... I have OCD… so…
ОтветитьHow long has it been since you've shaved in this video lol
Ответить"we all know those"
me: 😬
also anyone have tips on how to do the storytelling if you're not great at environment or "full body" drawings? like how would you do that with a portrait?
One of the best video
ОтветитьLOVE IT😍

ОтветитьGreat content, thank you! :D
ОтветитьGreat video. You keep making excellent videos. I love the fact that for each video you show the process with a new art piece that is relented to the video's title
ОтветитьTHANKYOU FOR THE TIPS!
Ответить1. Storytelling
2. Start rough
3. Cheat with assets
4. Steal from multiple sources
5. Composition
Hey, man. I'd love to see a video about painting a night environment. I had an indoor night-time commission recently, and there weren't many good videos at all
ОтветитьThis was awesome. I learnt so much! Thank you 💟
Ответитьnice video! it was much needed :)

not just you ... believe me
ОтветитьThank god, finally someone who tell about storytelling and composition ! That solid tips mate, thanx and keep it !
Ответитьi think i'm 'the perfectionist' one. sigh
ОтветитьTraced art does not look like "traced art". It's just theft, so that should be the reason to not do it haha
Ответить"5 TIPS TO MAKE YOUR ILLUSTRATIONS BETTER" ... This video was just an ad for your products, ok
ОтветитьWhere ma perfectionists at🤦🤷😅
