VMachine hardware VST player - still useful in 2019?

Find the old free nord lead inspired synth one plugin , 10 banks of 127 presets changeable with program/bank change , can also double + it up if you clone it into slot 2 etc. starts to sound really fat. This unit is the best 80 quid I’ve spent in a long while. Assign em to different Chanel’s then change presets independently.

Are there any newer alternatives to this for hardware-based VST instruments?

I actually used this baby on my gigging days (mostly as a sampler and as a natural piano). It is a bit tedious to set it up properly though so I don't use it anymore even though I had bought the OP-X synth for it too.

Being able to restore the firmware of a "bricked" VMachine is exactly the reason why I put that support page up.

I was in a similar situation before and with the website being completely down at the time, there was no way to restore it. Thankfully I found the software on an old harddrive and over the years gathered documents and files from the depths of the internet and 3 years ago I decided to put everything on my site so this wouldn't happen again.

It's videos like yours and comments from other users that are now still able to use this device for over a decade after it was released that make me glad I did it.

Hi. I still have mine. I loaded sf2 files on it, long time ago but I don't remember how. I added 1GB RAM. I have in sf2 format Yamaha motif xf8 and many famous ROLAND keyboard, but when you load an instrument after a while playing, it becomes weird and you must reboot and reload the instrument. I'm thinking about changing and buy a muse instead.

Crazy. I was just wondering about this old thing. Saw a receptor up for sale but this is way more compact. I got a Use:Audio Plugiator, still works great. I just watched a video on here where someone upgraded their vmachine fan, hdd memory and even built a custom case.

I bought this years ago and I still haven't used it. Need to fire it up and use it with that one sampler that people claimed worked just fine. I don't even remember the name. It'll be nice being able to use it as a standalone sampling box. Thanks for making this video!

It would interesting to compare this vs a competitor Muse Research Receptor, I've always been curious about products like this but being a very pro hardware hardliner, I just couldn't justify dropping cash on a curiosity. I would be interested if you could use esoteric weird plugins like Sonic Charge Synplant

I mainly use the V-Machine with VST instruments from H.G. Fortune for athmospheric soundscapes that no hardware synth could do. His plugins are all very well programmed, so that there's no problem to install them on the V-Machine. Also the external sequencing and Midi CC automation with an Octatrack works fine. Run it then through some cool effects pedals and you're in a completely new sonic world. IMO an interesting gear for any DAWless live setup.

So if you have a midi keyboard you can basically use the v machine as a synth back up . A smaller portable keyboard ?

The idea of being able to use your favorite plugins in a live situation, where you don't want to rely on a laptop, is what makes it interesting for sure!
But seeing the limitations and problems it has, I just think you're better off using a laptop on stage to control the plugins.
If they ever make a newer and updated version of this, that fixes all of the bugs, that would be great!

Does the fan noise turn off or is it constantly on? If it does turn off, does it come back on after a period of time?
