the vibe of this video is exactly what I feel whenever I read/hear the creation myths haha, so crazy, ironic and silly

I’m so glad I found this video. I was divided between making my story’s mythological side based on real mythology. It would make sense because it takes place in “modern” earth, but I have been kinda struggling with it.

The bit about chronos and the poison is greatly exaggerated here and I wish people would stop triggering folks with Emetophobia

I've never heard of Athena having a younger brother before. That does sound super-interesting.

Ouranos: ~An asshole who deformed his children so his wife wouldn't love them more than him & then trapped them underground~
Kronos: ~An who ate his children alive to keep his throne~
Zeus: ~An asshole killed his first pregnant wife, married his sister, cheated on her every other Tuesday & raped his grandma when she suggested that might not be okay~

Ouranos was the last primordial to appear (at least presented in this video he is no super familiar with that part if myth)

I had a Greek myth professor describe Zeus fathering most of the Olympians as "staffing the family business" and I have never been the same

I heard some say the son was actually Apollo, rather than Athena's brother, bit even if so, he tamed him well

I looked this up just now and it now amuses me to no end that the family tree of the gods actually lists "Uranus's genitals."

It's no funny how all of Gaia and uronos's kids were living with their parents their whole lives

Well highschool did, the riordanverse, Supernatural, Marvel, and DC does do the “all myths are real plot” alongside American Gods but I think outside of the latter, Supernatural does give its own explains for how that plot point exists but none of the others do

My favorite idea is still that dionysus is the drunk that he is because zeus feared the prophecy of a child being more cunning than him, so he made his son into a drunkard

The reason why we don’t hear of chaos after he births the first of the gods is because chaos has no place in an ordered universe (kosmos). To conceptualist it better, imagine that chaos is salad dressing that has been mixed up and that the gods are the different ingredients in the salad dressing. When the dressing is mixed up, all of the ingredients kinda blend together and are indistinguishable from one another - it’s chaos. But, if we let the salad dressing sit for a moment, the ingredients begin to separate from one another and become classifiable. The mixture is no longer chaotic but order and once order chaos has no place. Thus, in the same way, once the gods of Greek myth began to separate themselves from the violent mixture that was chaos, order appeared, chaos disappeared, and the kosmos was born.

Gotta be honest, from the get go I never much cared for American gods and the more I've learned about it, seen from it and read from it the more I've come to absolutely dislike it

From the world, characters and how the gods are portrayed, especially the native American spirits and devine beings

As a medicine Man in training I from what I've read I've found the portal of the spirits and devine beings either cirngily surface level to out right offensive

Everything about American gods just seems off at best and poorly thought out and offensive nonsense at worst

If I was fate, I would have just ended all the other gods then tell humanity to have a field day and just do whatever they want and then promptly disappear just like chaos did.
