Improve at osu! FASTER — Stop Hyperfocusing

damn, i'm literally 6 digit hyperfocusing on learning finger control on 170 bpm map, bursts, funny patterns on 5.2~ star maps, it's been like 2 months since i started lelearning bursts and stuff, but my progress doesn't feel great, i've lost my aim and reading cz most of those map don't even require having aim, today was my longest session in my whole playtime, and i've played EVERYTHING in terms on skillset, fast jumps,low ar 2014 maps,slider intense maps, tech maps, even streams, that was actually fun

I have a question, lets say you are a player that plays the game for hours
Is the best option to spend each hour improving at different skills?
For example one hour for jumps, one for speed and one for streams.

This was me with streams, except my whole motivation was being able to enjoy harder maps because they all have some form of streams. Now I did it recently with jumps because even harder maps have big ass jumps.

I used to be mouse only and wanted to learn how to play m+kb but I would fingerlock and play at a level far below what I was at previously.
It fucked up my mental and made me more toxic so I decided to just do something else for a while which led me to playing osu!taiko which I found much more fun to learn and get the hang of.
After getting to the 3s range on osu!taiko doing full alt I came back to std and now my tapping is so much less of a concern to me. It feels like I can play at a higher level then I could mouse only and I can focus on just getting rhythms or speed just right for the maps I want to play instead of fingerlocking because I am so focused on my tapping.

I know I'm late and this will get buried, but I ONLY played jumps and DT from when I started playing (august 20) until 7 months ago, my aim is above average for my rank (I think) and now since I've been focusing on streaming and speed, I have pretty good stamina and alright speed (somewhat consistent 250bpm and good 5-7 note 300bpm no wooting) I'm getting a wooting uwu when it comes out (pre ordered) so we'll see (I'm 11k atm)

My recommended diffuculty is 4.5 how am i supposed to play tournament 6-7* map pool....

im a 6 digit that cant pass 5star maps

1 Month later: i can pass 5star, almost fced some of them, now i can read ar10 and play dt, hr, HD, hddt, and im trying tô learn hddthr (or ar11)

thx man it helped a lot.....a few months back (when i was 700k) I used to play 4.8*~ maps.......there were 2-3 maps that i used to always mind block in and i used to spam retry on it.....this made me almost lose all my reading ability and tapping ability.......then a day later when i was getting tired of this problem, i got ur vid on recommends......can say that it truly helped a lot....thx otherwise i would have most probably quit osu..... currently ranked 189k with 5-6 200pp chokes

My improvement in osu was ruined like a year ago, I was actually decent at most things, jumps, bursts and streams and I even managed to pass Airman even when I wasn't even <700k, which is probably like 900k today

And then I didn't, because I played other rhythm games and literally started playing touch device
My reading was improving while I was doing absolutely no speed or aim on a computer, so I think I my reading is like 350k while my aim and streaming is probably down the drain of 7 digit

i have a problem with my tapping skills, i could somehow stream 240 bpm but when deathstreaming like 16 notes i can only go 150-180
the most skilled thing i have right now is aiming with my mouse, with relax i could hit 240 jumps and even sometimes 296 jumps when im warmed up, im trying to figure out a way on how to fix my problem for atleast 5 months and no progress lately.

ill try spazza's method on how to improve, if nothing happens then ill just play relax forever

i wish i have a tablet its more easier than mouse but for now i dont have one

the hyperfocusing part was spot on, but I was still not improving weaknesses :skull:
I was a goofy farmer and got my first 8 star fc on dt (random farm map)
I reached 15k then and I didn't play for 1.5 years and stopped because I thought I wouldn't get better anyway (because of the inconsistency fr fr)

i hyperfocused on aim, then like 2 weeks later i ended up with worse aim than previous XDD But i ended up on randomly being better at streams and flowaim because even when i hyperfocus on aim i was still playing generic maps, streams for fun and auto host rotate lobbys

bel video, per molto tempo ero una frana all'accuracy, e ho provato a migliorarci in continuazione, in continuazione, ma mi sono accorta che rafforzando le mie skill gia stabilite piano piano la accuracy è migliorata. Ancora forse mi spingo troppo sulla acc, e forse dovrei perdere un pò di orgoglio e giocare mappe più facili per migliorarci, invece di avere le stesse aspettative per la acc che ho per high bpm, aim etc
