Track pad won’t work
ОтветитьGreat video. I wanted to watch the actual install process before doing it for real and your video was perfect for that. This has brought up a few questions I was hoping you could answer or may have some insight or an opinion on:
1) The System Integrity Protection (SIP) was set to permissive for this install, reducing overall security. My macOS install is using FileVault, would it still remain secure? I assume so, but would be easier for an attacker to run some additional tools to hack/crack it.
2) Can the System Integrity Protection (SIP) be set back to full security after the installation of Asahi Fedora and everything still function as normal in both macOS and Asahi Fedora? Maybe Asahi Fedora would break after that and no longer boot or be available to boot until put back into permissive mode?
3) Did you or are you going to or need to set the System Integrity Protection (SIP) back to full security once Asahi Fedora was removed?
4) Is the Asahi Fedora install encrypted or is the option to encrypt it there? Can it do this without a passphrase at boot?
how is the trackpad scrolling? is it smooth?
ОтветитьWhat does that mean when you set your system to permissive mode? Is it Fedora, MacOS, both? Not a good thing for security?
ОтветитьGreat tutorial. I've been holding off installing Asahi but this release gives me more confidence to bite the bullet. Out of interest, how hard is it to wipe the linux distro from a mac if I wanted to put it back the way it was? Is it as simple as deleting the partitions or is there more to it than that?
ОтветитьGood tutorial, thnx. But i'm waiting Fedora Asahi Remix 40.
ОтветитьThank you for an awesome tutorial!
Wow, what a great job did Asahi team made already. Seeing how it is possible to run Linux side by side, without compromising security - I will be definitely installing it on my system. Will just wait however for Asahi based on Fedora 40 with KDE 6 and maybe will try new Gnome as well.❤
One thing - does anyone know if Asahi Linux can run in Parallels Desktop and if there are any benefits of using it as a virtual machine compared to any vm of ARM Linux distro? Probably it makes no sense, but was just thinking that as a VM Asahi Linux could run better than other ARM Linux distros, no?
how can i have the same keyboard in asahi remix i wanna change the control c to command c like mac os how can i change this i have macbook air m1 azerty thanks
Ответитьwhy dont usbC work?
ОтветитьI followed the instructions, and everything went fine my purpose was done and i uninstalled it. but after that somehow frequently chrome becomes unresponsive suddenly and had to force quit it and open it again, this had never happened before.
can you give any solution for this? it would be of great help. amazing video btw.
Hi thanks for the tutorial ! Can i install it if i already have the arch version ? Will it automatically delete the arch version when i install the fedora ?
ОтветитьOh wow, looks great. Can't wait to try it out! Thanks for such a thorough and friendly tutorial!
ОтветитьI'm very excited for this. DO you know if 3rd party developer apps are optimized for linux on arm?
ОтветитьKali Asahi would be the best distro ever
ОтветитьIs already possible to use Tails in Mac M1?
Ответитьcan i install it on ssd external ?
ОтветитьInstall has failed in my mbp 14.
mac os version is 14.2.1
message says 'The final installation step cannot be completed from a different recovery os.'
I don't know what to do.
Will Astrill VPN work on this?
Ответитьnice video :) could you please share the wallpaper? beautiful desert and sky btw !
ОтветитьInstead of its own distribution what I want to see is something that lets me seamlessly run any distribution in a non invasive fashion without it being a virtual machine. I also need to know if everything gets reverted if I choose to uninstall. Ok good you covered that well in this video.
Ответитьi am currently on mac os 12.7.1 can i install it?
ОтветитьNow installed Fedora KDE Plasma on MBA M1, worked perfect! I could not connect to 5 GHz wifi, but that's maybe not yet implemented in Asahi. Thank you so much for the excellent video.
ОтветитьVery helpful and complete instructions for me, thanks!
ОтветитьDid you test it's battery life on Asahi Fedora ?, like how long it managed to get ?
ОтветитьCan we install in a VM instead of dual boot? Does it support KVM for near-bare-metal speeds in the VM?
ОтветитьThe hour was stressful, brain flooded with concerns, it worked luckily enough.
ОтветитьWhen it asks for username and I put m1mac…it doesn’t work..😢😢
Ответитьcan we get arch on m1/m2 macs yet?
Ответитьis it possible to run x86 apps in Asahi ? (either the fedora or the Arch edition)
ОтветитьI tried it when it was Arch-based. Extremely snappy. The one thing I didn't like it was that when the laptop was in idle the battery still drained very quickly. When in active use battery life seemed okay, got maybe over 8 hours of web browsing.
ОтветитьCan the installation be done in an external ssd?
ОтветитьI mean its neat that it can be done. In a few years when M1 and M2 deprecated by apple this will mean something. But right now it would be stupid to blow away an install of MacOS for any Linux distro.
ОтветитьThank you very much for this tutorial. I'd like to know: how do you access files on your macOS partition while being booted into Fedora? Or do you use a third partition or an external drive to share files?
ОтветитьWill it voids warrenty?
ОтветитьVery excited for the arm version of fedora run in snapdragon x elite.
