Sony A80J OLED TV Review 2022

I just got a 55 inch for $1,000 at Best Buy, and mainly for my PS5 and my brother has the LG C1 and I think the picture quality over all is better on the A80J.

Just ordered an A80J on Friday for $999 on a Black Friday sale. $900 off is too good to pass up. Plus I’m coming from a 7yr old lcd so I’m sure it’s going to a huge step up.

What speakers do have and what are your other hifi components do you have?

I bought 77" a80j and very disappointed, impossible to watch images during daytime with my bright living room windows. Costco recommended to replace it with qn85a 85" and what a difference, brightness solve the problem. This a80j 77" side by side with 85" qn85a for a week, I pick up the qn85a for being day and night TV. A80j is good only for controlled dark room, because it lacks nits to watch TV during daytime with glare and reflection. All my family voted that qn85a is superior during daytime, at night is almost as good as the oled.

Just picked one up for £650 refurb. Can't wait !

I bought a 77 at Costco for 2699 and they gave me a 500$ shop card too. Plus rewards and 2 years extra warranty. Sure glad I did because for some reason this Tv is going up and up.

Good deal in coming months was right. Snagged the 55” for 1050 after taxes(cheaper than the C1 of the same size)

Picked up a80J to game on my PS5 and for upscaling my Nintendo switch games, it was 100 cheaper than the LG C1 at the time for the same 55" screen so I said why not plus VRR has been released for the a80J and PS5 now so I'm definitely glad I picked the a80J, close call though. Also, I guess I'm sticking with Sony for the foreseeable future, cause I've owned a Sony TV since 2016's 4K lineup.

I am a HAPPY Camper! About two weeks ago I got the last 77"A80J close out at $2300......this is the BEST TV that I have ever owned, can't stop going "WOW!"!

that tv look good could you till me please if this tv can go into warm and is it just cool setting and also what aspect ratio setting do it have is it same as the lg tv so it let you open up the screen if you got side bar thank

I just picked up the 55" Sony A80J - Best deal out there for a OLED TV ..... Would not touch any LG product - their warranty people are horrible do deal with giving You no help or consideration.

I have in EU little higher a84j and is amazing tv picture and sound quality is amazing. And i change from LG B8 Oled glossy vs mat finish for me mat is better because don’t show any window light on the screen on glossy LG i have mirror on the screen you don’t see enything ! Image quality is better than LG B8 cleaner, sharper with better colours and the depth of image is amazing with XR cpu! I don’t know why people claims this mat finish! Image is better with that, issue with contrast on mat screen is possible when strong light is very close to screen in cm!

Can you this with th internal speakers if you don’t want to do a sound bar?

I'm on the bench on the 55 inch a95k I have both consoles but not 2 bothered about adding a sound bar so should be decent

Hi Tom,, have you tried to connect this TV with an Nvidia PC video card with G-Sync enabled? there are conflicting opinions as to whether or not it is supported G-Sync by this TV. Thanks You !

I still have my A80J in my room but I had to replace it with the Samsung S95B since it’s just pretty much way better

How does it look with a room that has sunlight! Not directly. I'm undecided on x95j or A80j

Now I know this is a silly comparison, but I currently have a 55" X850D, and I'm looking to upgrade to the 77" A80J. Do you think it's a worthy enough upgrade? I mean, the X850D is only LED, and everyone says how amazing OLED and HDR are.

How is the brightness when comparing it to the x900F?

From my understanding because I mostly stream 720 and 1080 media, no gaming, I should buy this instead of LG C1/C2 because of Sony sdr upscaling?

It is really too bad that the various brands stick those huge streaming buttons on the remote. Are people buying $2,000 televisions too dumb to find the channels in the menu?

I have the money, but I still can't decide whether to buy this or the C1 even after watching countless videos about the 2 models.
What makes it even harder to choose is they're around the same price!

using a firestick 4k max is great because i can force HDR instead of DV in netflix. DV is broken as some titles look great while others are too dark

Great TV, the only real issue is the screen finish...what were you thinking Sony.

I hate the matte finish it gives a purple tint that I can't stand and when I put it next the other oled I have with Glossy panel.... I don't understand why Sony did this..

Hi ya, I am very interested in the A80j compared to the A90 mainly because of the price difference. My concern is the viewing distance. I will be sitting 8ft away. In your opinion is this too near? Thanks

Hey Tom, do u notice a thin black bar around your oled? Little bigger on rhe bottom ? Seems like the content isn't 100% full screen. More so the bottom to me.
