@wanderonwards Just for clarification, are US expats still under these restrictions if you are a dual US / EU citizen? I plan to move to the EU a dual US / Italian citizen and would be pretty bummed out if my rights as an EU citizen are still curtailed from investing in the EU because of my US citizenship. Please clarify!

Nice jolly description of a human rights abuse. This system has created a second class human being.

How do you buy fractional shares with Schwab? I don’t see a place where I can do that, only complete shares.

Both fidelity and schwab restricted my account due to the fact that I am a US citizen residing in the Philippines. I had an international schwab account. Lucky they gave a warning so I had to scramble to find a new brokerage account and a means to use a debit vehicle with ATM's.
I never got an explanation as to why this occurred

Hello I am a new US expat who recently moved to Thailand. Before I moved to Thailand I opened an account with Charles Schwab and fidelity but I did not invest anything until I moved to Thailand in which I recently opened a Roth IRA account with Fidelity and I put the max 7000 dollar limit. I did call fidelity and told them I am living outside of the US and I want to invest and they told me as long as I still have a US address I can use then I can invest. So I started using my Aunts address in Arizona and then I moved that address to my Private mailbox which I am not sure is legal to use private mailbox. Now I am nervous that this will cause me problems when I do my taxes and I also want to invest more but I am also nervous to invest more since I no longer live in the US. Please help

Charles Schwab allows purchasing of US ETFs, mutual funds, and index funds while living in the EU? I’m a US citizen and I’m thinking of how to set up my investing structure before I move.

I live in Germany for 40 years. In the last 10 years the United States has made it practically impossible for me to invest for my retirement. Why should I invest in US financial products, when I have no American address and no plans to ever live there again? Does the USA think that, because one doesn't live in the USA one doesn't need to save for retirement?

You make it sound like the US doesn't tax reinvested dividends from US funds. But they do. It's not different if you have the dividends distribute to cash.

Hi Vanessa! I love your videos and expecially this topic of investing as an expat. I have the US/Austrian citizenship and live and work in Austria. Unfortunately, Charles Schwab Int. does not take Austrian residents. Do you have any other broker recommendations that are suited for my situation? The video mentions Dunhill Financial, do you have any experience with them? Thanks!

Would you recommend a low cost index annuity so you avoid having to worry about taxes until years later when its time to start drawing it down.

What if you live in the US and have lots of money in vanguard invested in vanguard index funds, and then you move abroad. What happens to your funds?
