There’s one other hypothesis about who wrote this that I found but didn’t mention in the video: Some propose that the original problem can be traced back to Archimedes but the poem itself was written later.
Indeed, Archimedes was not much of a poet: some scholars that I read described Archimedes’ use of language as very simple. Suitable for expressing mathematical ideas but not poetry.
That’s a lot of milk

ОтветитьMe gusyan las vacas, ¡Son muy monas!
Ответитьwho needs so many cattle?
Ответитьimagine Archemedies ghost appears to tell you you're wrong
Ответитьsounds like a real cowtastrophe…
ОтветитьArchimedes did all that just to be stabbed to death by a legionary, and all those works put together in Alexandra just to be burned by Caesar.
Ответитьummm, I think you are missing a crucial point here, the place of this herd, it is in sicily, if the numbers are too large, it will be illogical to contain them all in sicily, so it is better to calculate the area of the island, and the area the that a cow/bull occupies, you get the rest i believe. in this you will need to consider few more variables, like the varying size/area of a cow and a bull or a baby cow, also considering all the ratios that you got and applying it to the different areas those cattle take up, the actual area of the island, since there are trees, houses, .. that would be illogical to not estimate and deduct it from the area. maybe Archamedes just wanted to know how his fellow mathematician thinks, more logically or more numbery/pure math.
ОтветитьArchi needed to get out more. sheeesh.
ОтветитьThose AI cows are the stuff of nightmares
ОтветитьQuestion is did Archimedes solve his own problem or not?
ОтветитьIn before his solution is just “there are no cattle”
ОтветитьCertainly, this problem got milked for ages.
ОтветитьI didn't understand the math in this video (this was recommended to me, i'm very weak with mathematical stuff) but this was very interesting nonetheless!
ОтветитьWould be funny if the answer was 0
Ответитьno he badly repeated something vedic but poorly like all of the western knoledge before christianity and islam destroyed civilization replacing it with a hell and a marketplace hell.
Ответитьthe only problem is how Helios puts all those cows on Sicily
and how he feeds them
But how many unwell fed bulls ?! See yah in 2000 years
ОтветитьWild to think McDonald’s goes through that much cattle each day?
ОтветитьWell looking at the current time, 0… 0 cows since they all died with-in 2200 years, probably,
Ответитьbro this world we live in, oh how i lust for the library of alexandria, how thy people there sang of the gods in the stars and of the green fields and distant seas beyond which other worlds
Ответитьancient equivalent of a zip bomb
Ответитьsay no to veganism lol
ОтветитьThe answer is wrong. No way that many cows could fit on Sicily.
Ответитьplease dont use ai for historic representations
ОтветитьI'm not only confused but also tired of useless math and I don't see the poem as a good one
ОтветитьSomething went awry ... a perfect square cannot end in 8 ...
Ответитьthanks man, for crediting Indian mathematicians, except for a few they don't get much credit.
ОтветитьI love you 💕😚
ОтветитьBet 78.86% of ppl stopped watching it before 8 minutes
ОтветитьWhat if you put all those cows on the same spot i mean exact one spot combining there masses
Ответитьle maths now : Find the value of X

He would have received a letter back saying wrong number....
ОтветитьHow about solving the problem of putting food on the table then figuring out this useless bullshit!!!
Ответить“…..Lost to history”
Or Archimedes was full of bull.
“If thou art diligent and wise, O stranger”. Yea im not solving this sht
ОтветитьWhy, Archimedes? Just why??
ОтветитьAnnoys me to see ai gemerated art, but I guess the sad reality is that, eventually, the internet is going to fully ai content due to it's ease of use and constant evolution
ОтветитьIt does make me wonder if writing math problems in poems and generally easier ways to process makes the questions much more widely understood? As in that one superpermutations issue which was solved when someone rephrased it as watching an anime series in some specific orders.
ОтветитьTeachers of Asia trying to write impossible problems to solve for kids:
