"Torque based" = marketing lingo. This is nothing new. This is just using a new feedback loop.

This is not new...Bosch oem units use torque request and torque demand for a long time now and alot more limiters and calculations. Just study a bit of Bosch MED units,...it has all the major and a lot more features than aftermarket ecus. Torque demand its one of the primary diesel injections, it has more than 20years! People this thays over rate aftermarket ecus, when the real features are on Oem ecus like Bosch, you have undred of maps to tune and twick. Aftermarket companys of ecus are just copying what is done on oem ecus and calling it NEW.

Good video and interview - pretty much what I was getting at in the 'discussion' in the comments in another video.

Is there a tuning game/software that you can use to demo and tune a simulation car

Not sure if I missed this, but what allows the ECU to know the torque exactly? Since the torque curve depends on the engine and supporting mods, I assume the ECU cannot know the true torque just by knowing engine displacement, manifold pressure and timing. How is this measured?

Either he's purposefully being vague to protect trade secrets, or
I wouldn't let him tune my car.
Sounds awfully sloppy and lackadaisical, ( who gives a shit, it's all the same).
I wonder if the product is any good, you wouldn't know by listening to this guy.

In a FWD application exclusive boost control was the first attempts to control wheel spin and chassis dive. This is why most of the really fast imports run Haltech, Motec, etc because they have more control over torque, along with ignition and boost control based on gear. I know Motec can also link to GPS like Shane talked about so the ECU knows exactly where the car is on track and adjust accordingly. Now that Syvec is available for the Focus ST/RS (Mk3) if I can figure out a way around gear rattle with a alum flywheel, I might shoot for 1000 hp.
