These two presenters are not even in the same category! Spotlight is way more flexible and useful for modern presentations shown on large TV or LCD monitors and the spotlight function is unique and there is no competitions yet on the market. The price overhead is way worth it. However, the software does have glitches and doesn't always work smoothly.

Can I just plug in the usb dongle on a somebody else's laptop and start using its features without installing its software?

Yeah, actually the spotlight are more likely to be air mouse in most function, but air mouse is much cheaper than spotlight,

Here is one other thing . The 800 you can not see the green dot on a lot of the new tv . We have tested it and other location and you can not see the dot because of the tv screens. but the spotlight will work so much better because of the app you install on the computer or laptop.
