The single best tactic to use to avoid a warden on a solo world: Peaceful Mode. As a top-notch coward, it's my go-to, and I'm not afraid to admit it. In fact, I own it. ùwú

Turtle Master Potion still reduces damage. Paired with Enchanted Golden Apples and a power 5 infinity bow, and it may be possible to kill him. Bear in mind you'll likely spawn like 30 others though.

If you alert him with sound, you could always lure him into a trapdoor lined wither rose pit too. This reduces mobility and kills him in a way that won't make him extra mad at you. Also quieter. If you're good enough at breaking bedrock, you could even just drop him into the void.

A couple hours ago I went into an ancient city and secured the area under the portal (the redstone rooms). I lined every inch of floor with carpet and i secured the entrances. Then I made a 2x2 piston door 2 blocks off the ground near a shrieker. I'd switch to Easy difficulty, run up to the shrieker and then run back in through the piston door. I set up a lever that activates a noisemaker a couple blocks away from the door and I would troll the Warden. Not that scary anymore since I have a bunker and he can't get to me.

I really advise people to make automatic sheep farm, in my case i need 1 shulker box of wool to loot entire ancient city (i bridge a lot and make a lot of pathways without removing them cus im too lazy destroying all the shriekers and sensors), surround chests with wool, and other stuff llike shriekers, and i guess you can avoid having full netherite armor but Allways ALLWAYS have elytra, rockets, night vision, and be aware wheres your exit if you spawn a warden, wait a bit until he despawns, go down again and continue the process. I found this technique very useful and i got loads of enchanted golden apples...

I just use a Netherite Hoe And Iron leggings with Swift Sneak III, and I use like 25 wool to clear the entire city of shriekers before I start looting

i’m starting a new survival world rn. i haven’t gotten an elytra yet but i do have a riptide trident, so my plan is that if i ever summon the warden by accident i’ll just get out of there as fast as possible with a water bucket

Keep him from spawning by looping a screecher a few chunks away. Only 1 can have spawn properties at a time

A few years later and all you have to do is just run away as soon as u hear it spawn lol

My stategy is to bring bed. With spawnpoint Its much easier. Next I deal with sculk starting with sculk shriekers when they are destroyed Warden can't spawn and it's a piece of cake.

I play modded and was getting slammed by the cities, this honestly helped me loads to understand how to go about it from now on.

work on 1.20.1 java:
use 12 trapdoor to create a 3x3 fence area, lure warden in there with arrows, and it won't be able to pathfind out of there, then you can kill it with your bow or just leave it there to despawn

My strat (bedrock):
Turtle master potion, strength 2, regeneration, impaling 5 trident and a bucket of water

The warden is an interesting mob in theory, but I think they made it way too persistent and op. I get ignoring armor, but they could have reduced the damage a little more to compensate. I get that it needs a ranged attack so people don't just hide behind walls, but the range and power is ridiculous. And the cooldown on shriekers is wayyyy too long. Ten minutes per level?!

i intentionally spawn the warden just to farm skulk catalysts

The warden just makes me not want to play in those areas and it sucks because my favorite place to build bases are mountains so no i just don't want to play. There is no fun way to sneak around its just stressful and there is no other choice but to be sneaky if I want to build my base in that area and the stupid city is in the way

just switch to peaceful mode whilst your in the ancient city so that yabs can't spawn

My strategy (actually works) if you have a 64 stack of wool tower up the warden will not hear and after a while he will despawn

The tip for dying to reset the tallies, if you’re in hardcore like me just cover yourself in wool, set a time for 10 minutes per tally so 10-20-30 minutes and if you’re 40 you’re fucked
