I'm in the UK.
There are two brothers from Iraq who live in our little town and they sell the big issue outside the local shops (it's a charity gig for food money).
There's not a lot of work here (or people who aren't white) so life must be hard for them.
I don't know if they got here legally or illegally but they're both happy, polite and friendly and when I asked them about their situation they said the fact that nobody is likely to arrest them, kill them or arrest them and then kill them, for no reason makes up for any problems they currently face.
I think that makes me sad 😥

Many of these kinds of stories happened to many Iraqis but honestly, old iraq was better than this time. My opinion as a former republican guard and US contractor who served with USSF went through a lot starting from 1991 when saddam took over in Kuwait through the Iraqi revolution, 1998 when our base got hit, 2003 the war, 2005 kidnaped by mahdi or Sader militia, 2010 another kidnapping by Iraqi police whose loyalty to Iran, last one 2013 in two months before I left the country they targeted me with a car bomb. Yes, that’s how we live in Iraq but we still love our country and we hope and pray for peace all over! God willing
