Actually you still have a security thread. Because you have to connected to the tuya app and give the credentials.

First of all, great tutorial. However there is still a privacy risk. for example a smart plug is still connected to the tuya cloud. So, this is just an integration method to get your tuya devices on home assistant. In otherwords the tuya device is connected to your local wifi, but also could be sending data to the tuya app.

if I configure the device in Local tuya, I have to write HOST - What is it? device id - ok, local key - what is it?

With the Tuya Key Extactor: One of the devices is showing Nothing as Local Key (blank) . I repated the process more than 5 times and thats the only device it shows blank as Local Key

The Device Log Query API says that it's deprecated, not sure when this happened. I hope it's not going to be a problem soon. Looking at picking up some Tuya devices.

Love the video. But I'm also amazed that these devices get away with calling themselves smart with this absolutely absurd technical overhead just to get something to do what it is supposed to do. "Smart" world seems kind of ridiculous at the moment :D

Device Log Query is missing in the API Services list. What to do then?

This is one the hardest things to do. You talk and run through instructions so fast it’s annoying. I’ve had issues with every command. Things aren’t showing up and now I have some data center mismatch that won’t let me add a device.grrrrrrr

When I restart localtuya integrations all devices become unavailable, they only show their values on status change. How to make the update automatically??

Hello Thank you for the video. I realize is old but i did everything explained here but when the internet is disconnected, the local tuya devices are unavailable. I read other folks are having the same issue and they are advised to remove dns and internet access to those devices. However, this presents another issue where either the cloud app or local has to be used but not both. Any comments?

This is so useful! Kind of a pain to get setup but once its setup its great! I was able to take some "dumb" strip lights, get a tuya controller, set it up in Tuya, then connect it to Home Assistant with Local Tuya. That opens the door for so many other projects. Thank you for this video!

Actually, you still need cloud(Tuya cloud) for initial integration due to need to collect Application ID and Secret, btw, is there any methods the we can add device into HACS or other cloud without using Smart Tuya App?
