If you had seen this video back then all of you would have rejected the idea. “What is this low quality video? Who are these goobers? Nah, this won’t work, just another one for the trash bin”
It’s only because this idea ended up working that now you perceive this video as being awesome.
and thus billions are lost
ОтветитьNow Stanley is a casino star
ОтветитьStilling from grub hub and Uber 😂😂😂
ОтветитьIs it safe to say this is the genesis of zomato swiggy ubereats
ОтветитьWhy this pitch worked:
1. Respected backgrounds within the YC (and greater startup) community.
2. There is more than one founder.
3. At least one of the founders has a coding background. The coder's school and former employers is also respected within the YC and startup communities.
4. They spoke to users.
5. They launched.
6. They did the non-scalable task (became delivery drivers themselves)
7. They had traction after just one month.
If their application pitch said "We're uber for restaraunt food delivery", or "We aim to deliver food to customers from their favorite restaraunts" without any prototype and traction, their application would've probably been rejected.
They’re billionaire by noq
Ответить10/10
Ответитьi thought about this while high 20 years ago
ОтветитьAll these comments glazing this company has literally never had a profitable quarter
ОтветитьA decade later, the business is yet to be profitable.
ОтветитьCan someone explain
ОтветитьAntitrust litigation
In April 2020, in the case of Davitashvili v. GrubHub Inc. DoorDash, Grubhub, Postmates, and Uber Eats were accused of monopolistic power by only listing restaurants on their apps if the restaurant owners signed contracts which include clauses that require prices be the same for dine-in customers as for customers receiving delivery.[74][75][76][77] The plaintiffs stated that this arrangement increases the cost for dine-in customers, as they are required to subsidize the cost of delivery; and that the apps charge "exorbitant" fees, which range from 13% to 40% of revenue, while the average restaurant's profit ranges from 3% to 9% of revenue.[74][75][76][77] The lawsuit seeks treble damages, including for overcharges, since April 14, 2016, for dine-in and delivery customers in the United States at restaurants using the defendants’ delivery apps.[11][74][75][76][77] Although several preliminary documents in the case have now been filed, a trial date has not yet been set.[78]
In July 2019, the company's tipping policy was criticized by The New York Times, and later The Verge and Vox and Gothamist.[8][64][65][66] Drivers receive a guaranteed minimum per order that is paid by DoorDash by default. When a customer added a tip, instead of going directly to the driver, it first went to the company to cover the guaranteed minimum. Drivers then only directly received the part of the tip that exceeded the guaranteed minimum per order.[66][67]
A DoorDash customer filed a class action lawsuit against the company for its "materially false and misleading" tipping policy.[66][67] The case was referred to arbitration in August 2020.[68] Under pressure, the company revised its policy.[69][70] The company settled a lawsuit with District of Columbia Attorney General Karl Racine for $2.5 million, with funds going to deliverers, the government, and to charity.[71][72][73]
The thing is, ideas like this seem so obvious in hindsight. Smartphones had truly become an extension of their owners by this point. Why had no one before thought of Doordash? A lot of billion-dollar ideas are the ones that are so simple, no one else would have tried to actually do it. I’m sure many had proposed something similar before but were met with higher-ups telling them “why would anyone need that?”
ОтветитьWhat small business really think about these guys, thiefs
ОтветитьThat's how India has Swiggy and Zomato
ОтветитьTo everyone watching this, yes these guys do have super impressive backgrounds and it no doubt helped them get to where they wanted to go faster, but ask yourself how many of those customers cared about what degree or prestigious company they had previously worked out, and you'll see what really made the difference for them were decisions they made that anyone can make too.
ОтветитьAnd now this company charges absolutely exorbitant fees, passes off the high costs to resturants, and pays the driver 2.50 to drive 10 miles, expecting the customer to provide most of the dashers income through tips.
ОтветитьAnother 4 nerds became Millionaires
ОтветитьThey successfully built a company which lost $1.4 billion last year
ОтветитьEvery person in this video is now a multi-billionaire. Imagine that, from a grainy video pitching an unique idea to filthy rich. What a world we live in.
Ответитьso these are the mfers who made my restaurant job miserable
Ответитьdoordash sucks
Ответить...and then proceeded to steal tips from their own employees years later. These are the faces of thieves.
ОтветитьI came up with this idea when I was 5 years old in 2005. I told my parents about a service that delivers food for restaurants that don’t deliver. In my head I remember imagining somebody going through the drive through for you and then bringing it to your house 😂
ОтветитьDoorDash is junk. Going straight to $0. Hidden fees, stealing tips, turning customers against drivers. Lock these guys up.
Ответитьhate this
Ответитьthis is going to fail unfortunatly....
ОтветитьNerds! Go get a job and make an honest living!
Ответитьi sell thrifted clothes on depop. now imagine if I as a seller could remove bad reviews.
Ответитьand now doordash has a market cap of 29billion.
Ответить4 doordash OGs
ОтветитьIt would be nice if we knew what specific factor that caused them to be accepted.
ОтветитьAnd now Stanley Tang is a high stakes poker player at some of the largest cash games in LA lol
ОтветитьAnd now they won’t even interview me 😂
ОтветитьThis is a horrible business!
ОтветитьThe time i am writing this comment doordash valued at $32.59 Billion dollars. Congrats guys.
ОтветитьCombined IQ of 100k in this video
Ответить2 years, is the company still working?
ОтветитьWas DoorDash profitable in 2022?
DoorDash is not profitable as its net losses amounted to over $1.3 billion in 2022, compared to $468 million in net losses in 2021.Jun 7, 2023. What is keeping this company in business?
Would’ve never taken off if it started out with a $2 base pay.
ОтветитьCome on..what the hell is this?😢😢
Ответитьwoooooow great minds - ends with food delivery to rich people.
ОтветитьHey you !! Give me free delivery and lifetime worth of discounts 😂
ОтветитьLegends
Ответить"we found there were loads of delivery drivers with lots of spare time who want more work..
So the four of us actually just started working as delivery drivers.."
I've a feel that guys cookup stories to make it sound interesting
ОтветитьThese geeks should start a company called dashdoors
ОтветитьWhy is it that most successful businesses are from a hand full of prestige schools?? They either are a large magnitude smarter than other ambitious people, or their given more of an opportunity
Ответить
