Gonna try this for fun even though you can easily emulate these games these days. Nothing quite beats the authentic feeling of having the little handheld in your hands, though. The resolution always looks wonky as well if it's not on a gameboy. Thanks for the little tutorial

Will this restore the pervious save ? The data that was lost ?

I got my copy of Pokémon Silver at DKOldies and my copy shows a blank screen after I set my clock.. Dose this mean I have to do this method too? I feel stupid spending almost $80 for a non working copy plus I can’t even get a refund with those guys..

I still have the Pokémon Silver (Gameboy color) game, and at first, it was working good, but until as I tried to play it again on Nintendo 64, it doesn't allow me to play it, the file didn't cooperate, my saved files didn't even automatically stayed on Gameboy Advance after turning it off and back on again

Hello, Spawn. I have all three of the gen 2 games (Gold, Silver and Crystal) and have replaced the battery in each of them. The results are that each of them save for a little while while playing through the game (either saving a set amount of times, or for a set amount of time), but end up wiping the saves automatically when playing long enough after turning the game off.

Any ideas on further fixes? I would be eager to hear your thoughts.

My Pokémon silver game saves right up until I beat lance and complete the first half of the game then only continues at my last save won’t ever let me pass even after going through the end credits…. Any tips or advice??

Fantastic video! Found my old Pokemon games (Blue, Silver and Crystal) and not a single one could save properly. Fixed all three with the help from this video :)

I melted a plastic pen on a candle and pressed it against the screw and used that as a screwdriver.
Then I just taped on a new battery.
Budget, but it works 😄

What is the name or kind of battery used to replace the old one? And are they easy to find?

Ideally, practice on something of low value. For example, one that has a damaged or missing label. ;-)

My mom completed silver and I'm trying to do it too, I have an emulator so this isn't a problem but I wanna do challenges like dark mode silver aka all lights off and night time.

One day i saved my game and gameboy just turned off. so i re started and ten the save got deleted. Is that because of the battery?

I wish that battery switching didnt involve Soldering its like, you gotta learn how to do one extra thing to replace the battery for your favorite Pokemon game.

Will this fix work for all other game boy games? My game and watch gallery 2 has the same problem.

I've changed the battery using your guide, but for some reason...it's still not saving. Any idea why? I've googled a bit and made sure my solder points were shiny, that the battery is set properly (positive side down), and that it's the right battery...it still won't save though. :(

My son found my old Pokemon games. He's been playing silver and he got all the way to the elite four and beat them and it won't save after that. Keeps putting him back to where he saved right before he fought them.
I'm guessing this is the issue.
