yeah, with 17 AC this build is absolute dog shit
why would you ever max STR before DEX on monk when DEX gives you both AC and dmg scaling through Dextrous Attacks
You don’t have to sign the contract btw, you can get the hammer in the same place that the contract is I believe

ОтветитьIn terms of when you get tavern brawler I'd tend to get it first. You can get strength to 17 with hag hair and to 18 with tavern brawler. That puts you at a better spot early on in terms of damage.
I do realize that this isn't going to be possible for everyone depending on how they are playing and where they are in the game but i figured I'd mention it
Why do you need open hand for this build? Isn't flurry of blows a bonus action for every monk? E.g. you can do this same thing but take Way of the Shadow to teleport in and out of places too
Ответитьid recommend not speccing into str that hard. Go for dex, wis or con instead. Strength can be set to 21 for a day by dringking potions, and those are plentiful both in the world, in shops and if you know how to use alchemy

ОтветитьThis build is ok but not the ideal monk; it can be greatly improved by only leveling dex & wisdom, and using an elixir of Cloud Giant strength every day. (Can get 2x per long rest in act3, if you gave Derryth Bonecloak the noblestalk in acts 1 or 2.) Before then, use elixirs of Hill Giant Strength. (2x per long rest from Ethel, or 1-2 from the dude in the Mushroom Kingdom) Also, getting haste with that one bow or getting it cast on you by a party member is good, so is using the Helmet of Grit for an extra bonus action. (Spoilers for mindflayer powers ahead.)
If you use the astral tadpole and get mind sanctuary, you can use bonus actions as actions while in the sanctuary. This means you can get SIX FULL ACTIONS in a turn if you have haste & are at half health w/ Helmet of Grit and the build in the video. Next, for even stupider damage, use black hole to group a bunch of evil dudes really close together, then use tavern brawler to make them all resonate with ki, then detonate the ki for big damage.
The next bit is a glitch and will probs be patched, but here goes anyways:
You can use Phalar Aluve's shriek to do an extra 1d4 thunder, + Morninglord's Radiance (once you get it once simply add and remove a party member to get it back) for an extra 1d4 damage. This basically lets you oneshot anything, because whenever the 1d4 thunder triggers, the 1d4 radiant damage triggers, and whenever the 1d4 radiant triggers, the 1d4 thunder triggers, and so on and so forth.
It's better to put more points into dex/wis then str, and use a potion of hill giant strength or similar.

ОтветитьWhat is the Best Race to pick. I picked Drow, but i dont really have a good AC... and i dont know how to fix that? Or is this build just not for leveling?
ОтветитьI believe the bone armor gloves that negate all slashing, bludgeoning and piercing damage resistances is a better option.

ОтветитьBetter version: barbarian 3 with bear wild heart, monk 6 with way of the open hand, thief 3 for the extra bonus action. Take tavern brawler and use the hill giant gloves (this way you can drop your strenght to 8 and pump up your dex), same boots and chest piece as the video and other few thing and you hit between 40 to 60 with the flurry of blows plus you are unkilleable
ОтветитьHi, what is a practical race to go with? One with dps or passive protection traits. Is half-orc good?
ОтветитьTavern brawler monk is busted for sure, but if u wanna min-max I would go with strength elixir and starting with 8 strength and 17 wisdom. After you get on the beach u can run straight to grove to buy elixirs from Ethel so there is no point in high strength. Merchants restock everytime u, or ur party memeber go level up, if u respec with NPC merchants restock too + restock on level up. So basicaly if u want u can have 100+ elixirs before killing Ethel. At level 4 monk get tavern brawler, kill Ethel when u want to get 18 wisdom, next go ASI to get wisdom to 20 and then mirror +2 wis -2 int and u sitting on 22 wisdom. On level six of monk u get 1-4 radiant damage +ur wisdom modifier toggle damage + later u get boots that add ur wisdom modifier to unarmed damage. So u r looking at least 5+5 str damage ( 8+8 if using cloud giant elixir) and 6+6 wisdom damage.
So for max damage wisdom is better since u can buy fingers of cloud giant and make elixirs.
If u go Astarion and ascend him he gets 1-10 necrotic damage on top of what u can get.
6 open hand monk, 4 thief, 2 fighter will give u insane burst and insane dpr too. U can be tank of ur party since u can respec to start with fighter which gives u heavy armor and shield and if u cast blur on urself + haste potions u can solo the game easily.
why dont you use your ilithid power buffs?

ОтветитьAlternatively, you can get Monk to 22 STR by starting build at 17 STR then bump STR to 20 with +2 from ASI and then +1 from Tavern Brawler. Then add in the permanent +2 STR from the alchemist in Moonrise Tower in Act 2 for a total of 22 STR.

ОтветитьI just speced the build in low level and i notice that flurry of blows and BA attack dose not get the tavernbrawler damage buff. Why?
ОтветитьTLDR: at level 4 get tavern brawler not asi.
Starting abilities: str 16, dex 14, con 12, int 8, wis 16, chr 8. (this spread means 1 extra ac)
Don't get asi at level 4. get tavern brawler and put the point you get from it into strength. Then you can either respec con to 10 and get 17 str = 18 with tavern brawler. Or you can use ethels hair in act1 to put another point into strength without taking a hit to con and avoid respec.
This slight tweak gives you better early game damage and hit chance and 1 extra ac all in act 1. Just helps get the build going quicker.
Then potion in act 2 = str 20. Gloves in act 2 = dex 18 + 1attack. Now respec dex down to 8 and put those points wherever you want.
I also like the int circlet in act 1, so relatively early act 2 you can achieve an ability spread like this:
Str 20, dex 18, con 14, int 17, wis 16, chr 12 and then at level 9 (thief 4) get wisdom to 18 with asi.
Edit: as far as I can tell this is one of the highest ability scores across all scores you can get in the game. And you still get level 8 monk feat. Except for a certain pair of gloves that boost str to 23 I believe, but for them you would lose dex gloves and be stuck at 8 dex.

ОтветитьIs tavern brawler actually worth it in this game, just seems like it’s used for throwing crap around.
ОтветитьOne note, in act three even as a monk you can equip a bow that improves crit range by 1, its not really necessary but it affects the wielders attacks, not just ranged, meaning it could affect your handsiness aswell, just by having it equipped, I wouldnt use it, but its nice to up the crit range in general :)

By the way you could have refuse Raphael proposal and directly stole the Hammer from his house :D
On the item part you can add a nice Tri horn hat with necrotic damage that one is great but yeah like you said what i like about this build is that only the multiclass into Thief lvl3 is mandatory for the 2nd bonus atack
For example i use mobility feats with the Alert feats cause the stun palm actually Stun all bosses so what im doing is usually im first in the initiative roll i run all the way up to the boss and stun lock him into the Avernus mouahahahahah
Also im not reaching lvl 4 in Thief cause you gain a new ki attack at lvl 9 that deal a huge amount of AOE damage for 0 ACTION !
How do you have two main actions (green ones)?

ОтветитьYou didn't turn on your passive that you get at level 6 way of the hand for the extra necrotic, radiant, or psychic damage (which also scales with wisdom btw)
