A little Canadian Trivia, Gauthier is a very common name in Quebec......Norm changes the name to Gatineau....which is a city 2 kms from the Ontario (Ottawa) border (bridge).

I think I understand why Norm disappeared from the public eye. He sounds like a public service warning for early onset dementia.

I can't be the only person who didn't realize until after the show was off the air - that when Andy bothered to go to the plate he'd usually swing at the first pitch and just clobber it out of the stadium...

Well, Jacques Gauthier (without the "de" that Norm adds) could be his name (it is a widespread French-Canadian name). While "Jacques de Gatineau" just means "Jacques from Gatineau", and Gatineau is a city next to Ottawa. So the story actually makes sense. :-)

When Norm does the head nod after Jaques de Gautier i just kills me 😅

at the risk of stating the patently obvious - at least to some - the punchline was: "i think i'm serving a 'youthful porpoise'"; which, once again, obviously, is a play on the words of, 'useful purpose.' Too bad the Conan's audience - and quite a few commenters as well - have failed to recognize the inherent humor in Norm's telling of this joke! That is all!! RGB-Y3 out!!!

The pure joy and satisfaction on Norm's face when he delivers "youthful porpoise" will forever be my favourite moment. He well knew it was a ridiculous joke and he looks so proud of it.

For someone who didn’t get the joke. It’s his wordplay on useful purpose and youthful porpoise( animal looking similar to dolphin)

This reminds me of a long elaborate joke story I tell people sometimes involving JK Rowling originally intending Neville to be the bad guy and also the story itself being a musical. I go on to mention that she originally came up with the idea in the 80s and was influenced by a lot of the music in that time period. She even wrote Neville his own song for when he finally stepped out of the shadows, like that classic trope "the bad guy was under our nose the whole time" thing. His song would have gone something like:

Neville gonna give you up
Neville gonna let you down
Neville gonna run around and desert you

Neville gonna make you cry
Neville gonna sat goodbye
Neville gonna tell a lie and hurt you.
