Absolute Legend!

The American Psychiatric Association created another new disorder, prolonged grief disorder.

According to this diagnosis, is the APA saying normal adults have 12 months to grieve however they want to, and normal kids have 6 months, after that they are considered mentally ill?

How does the APA come up with these guidelines? They seem arbitrary.

What happens if there are multiple deaths at the same time, or consecutive deaths, is it still just limited to12 month/6 month, or are we allowed to have a multi-death extended grace period for our grief?

Please make one for DSM 5 TR as well.
