Good stuff. You could still see this as stacking thirds, one just happens to be a diminished third.

To think of the 6th Diminished scale as a Major scale with an Augmented 5th is totally misrepresenting the teaching of Barry Harris. It is an Ab as opposed to a G#, which comes from the bb7th from the B Diminished 7th chord. We therefore have a combination of C6 = C, E, G, A and B dim7 = B, D, F, Ab. Combining the two gives the C6th Diminished Scale = C, D, E, F, G, Ab, A, B. I hope this helps.
