i loved this game, kinda the same situation, after my first job, after a veeeery bad relationship and some friendships ended badly as well, i heard about this game and decided to try it even if i never played a visual novel.

Rin was my favourite, obviously because all that art and existential crisis part, but i ended up liking them all, because i understand something different every time, and yeah, it was a nice experience i would recommend

That classroom scene with Hanako always ruined me

I haven’t played many VNs but this is easily my favorite, it’s so well-crafted. Lily’s route was my first and I love it, and now I’ve played every route except for Rin’s. I figured she’d be so annoying based on the initial interactions with her, but especially the way you describe her story, it sounds like I might actually really enjoy it…now to find the time. 🙂

Ten years fuck. Still love this masterpiece of a game it hits like a truck.

I mean, I only got the good endings, but that's a completed game for me.

All of the girls are best girls, Misha might be annoying but she deserved her own route.

If you honestly believe that any of Shinji's insane ramblings have merit, then I wholly believe you need to see a therapist. There's a reason he gives you the worst ending in the game.

Just finished all the good routes for the first time and absolutely loved it. Hanako has the best route possibly out of any VN I've played. Even Island and If My Heart Had Wings.

I was a lonely 16 year old when this game came out, I played every single route, going as far as to look up rout maps to make sure I didn't miss anything. I fucking fantasized about going to that school haha

Loved this video for the most part. When you were giving a bit of credit to Kenji's ideas... kinda lost me there. Kenji was not "ahead of his time" or possibly speaking "the truth" lol. The ending of his route makes clear how much the writers wanted to criticize his ideas (and the reader's, if the choices you make lead down his route). He felt like a complete evisceration of the often annoying "best friend "stereotype in VNs, which was funny as fk and cool to see -- giving Hisao an incredibly sexist and unstable hallmate as a "best friend" (though Hisao obviously never took him seriously) was so genius to me. I hope your comments on it were just in good fun, and they mostly seemed to be, but just in case... Kenji realistically is not based, at all. But as a meme, sure, Kenji is based and goated.

I think one of my favorite parts about KS is just how accessible it is. If you own a computer that can connect to the internet (or you have a flash drive that contains the game), you can play it. It’s been translated into dozens of languages. You can turn off the NSFW content in the main menu. There are even ways to play the game on mobile. You can download the entire soundtrack straight to your phone or computer. All for free. You don’t have to spend a single penny.
And if you can sit through it, you are rewarded with some of the most heartwarming stories and characters that will most likely change you in some way.

Kenji was an incel before the term "incel" existed but a lot of those types were on 4chan even back in the late 2000s when this was mainly being written. I think the whole "movement" probably grew to prominence there.

My first route ended up being Emi by accident ("Go for it." is all I need to say), but my favorite by far after doing all of the routes is Rin's. I really connect with her character. I am one of those people struggling with interpreting their own emotions and how to communicate...The entire route just speaks to me. It's a very complicated and relatable journey with great highs and terrible lows, but in the end it really all feels worth it.
Plus, Parity is a great theme. My favorite piece from the game.

I finished playing through all the routes yesterday. I'm afraid that every similiar piece of story gradually drives me more and more insane. It deeply contradicts with my life expirience so far. All I ever feel now is that all hope is gone. I can relate with Hanako in my interactions with humanity despite that I believe I have no appearance defects. Can relate in everything except this part with Lilly. There no such supportive people in the real world. Every time I tried just to befriend someone all I've ever got is more self-hatred and anxiety. Maybe I'm just weeping over fairy tales afterall? There is no one to relate to and spend time well with. There is no one to fulfill my burning need for social contact. I'm just 17 and I feel like I'm already dead.

I finished the “game” about 40 minutes ago and I think it might be one of the greatest things I’ve ever played. (I did Hanako route)

Just today i realize the game was released on 2012. All the videos i found mostly were 11 years ago and i keep telling myself 11 years ago was 2008 or something. Damn.

I haven't played it, nor have i watched it, but it seems great from this video, i haven't watched the full video yet, but i think i might come back to watch this when im done, thank you.

To this day Rin and Ami both hold a place in my soul. The whole novel forced me to look at myself in a mirror and acknowledge my own defects both mental and physical. It left me far humbler that I thought possible. Yeah, it is the flux that forges the wannabe's into weebs.

I'm so glad I discovered this game, finished it, and THEN found out it was made by 4chan; it just goes to show how far this game went and is now an established and frequently recommended visual novel.

So im just started playing it on steam and i finished just the prologue and their is a small scene with the doctor talking the main character about how just because your disabled doesn't limit your capabilities coming from someone who has been disabled at birth with spastic diplegia cerebral palsy and had to relearn how to walk 5 times in my life of 23 years old this one line hits me like a frait train and I can already tell im going to cry so much when reading this vn.

this game was the first one that made me cry, lilly's route hit TOO HARD for me
