I love many of the GO, a panomatic lunar is my affordable grail but im not a personal fan of the seaQ range ... Its too dressy to be a diver, i know it os more than capable and i know no one actually wears them to dive but even so.
ОтветитьGreat picks! I own the Aqua Terra in green, the Mark XX in blue, and the Tudor BB GMT. Love them all!
ОтветитьI think it's the handset that puts me off the aqua terra. I think it would sit better without the little triangle on the hour hand
ОтветитьThis was a great idea for a video. I really enjoyed the discussion and thought process. If I was starting over again...
1. Grand Seiko SBGM221 GMT
2. IWC Pilot Mark XX or any Mark XV or newer in black dial
3. Tudor Pelagos FXD or 39mm... think the MN Pelagos FXD would be the best here
4. Zenith Chronomaster original or Omega Speedmaster Professional
I think that would be a good start! I can't believe I don't have an Omega Seamaster there so I think I'd need to have one... the black wave dial with Mesh bracelet or black rubber.
I’d choose a GO panodate lunar. From your list the IWC Mark XX.
ОтветитьU50 SL is very tempting…
ОтветитьAs it stands now, I wouldn’t change a thing… Expensive mistakes that I’ve moved out, I would’ve loved to have avoided.
Then again, there is a 16014 I do miss a lot. Should’ve kept it.
What a great conversation video, albeit with just myself ;) I think I would have like to have started with a Rolex OP. Learn to love it and learn to wear a watch without a date complication. All my years with a G-Shock spoiled me. I got lucky with my Seiko diver, although entry level, my Samurai rules the roost in my watch box. The textured dial, amazing lume and gaining such a patina, it's just a great watch.
ОтветитьSeaq spezimatik black dial is my choice🤗
ОтветитьMy one and only watch is the Glashutte Original Panorama Date. It was an expensive choice but for me it feels better to have one excellent watch than several lesser watches, interesting as they might be.
ОтветитьAnother great video @IDGuy. I have the standard tegimented U50, it's a good one. Started out with the Omega Gen 1 Planet Ocean, had a good run with it. Sinn is slimmer, which works better for me. If I were going to select one to "start over" and do something different, perhaps a Girard-Perregaux Laureato or their World Time in titanium? ⌚👍
ОтветитьMy nicest watch is Longines Spirit Zulu Time and been saving for an Omega. Lately, I’ve had my mind on Zenith and think I’ll go big and skip the Speedy and go straight for either a Chronomaster Sport or Defy Skyline Chronograph. Two extremely different watches so I’ve got time to think, but the El Primero is one of those movements… I can see myself with a grail Patek and still reach for the Zenith for the rest of my life. I can see myself selling the 57 Speedy as beautiful as it is
ОтветитьAny chance we can get a video talking about the most representative watch by country? Could be based out of heritage and one newcomer….
Sounds like a fun video to me…
If I had to start from scratch and build my perfect collection it would be, Fortis stratoliner, Tudor FXD, Nomos club sport, CW 12, CW sealander gmt and a Citizen chronomaster.
ОтветитьThese are excellent pics. I’ve thought for a few years now, if I had a blank slate, Aqua Terra all the way. I’m in the market for a purchase this year and it’s up to the AT or the PO. Either one would be excellent. Love that U50 though. There is a lot of analysis paralysis for me.
ОтветитьAlready started over 😂 Thought I would get the Rolex Starbucks. Didn’t like it for me as the one and only. Then, I did Rolex Explorer II Polar, Tudor FXD Blue, and Omega Speedy Hesalite. To have a GMT white dial, Blue diver, and Black-dialed Chrono 😎🥳
Edit: but couldn’t resist also thinking about getting a Pam 914 and GS SBGC001 😅😂 It’s hard to limit it just to a 3 watch collection.
Sounds like AI listening to this guy
ОтветитьI own an old Rolex datejust with a bright silver dial, a Sinn u50 and a mark XX from the pieces you mentioned. I guess my collection is on a good track ;-)
ОтветитьI'd probably get a blancpain FF, minus 10 years ago, when they weren't as overpriced as they are now.
ОтветитьCartier Santos for me.
ОтветитьG Shock g5600ue
End
But, if I had to choose an analogue; Maen Manhattan or Nivada Grenchen Antarctic (chevrons at 3, 6, 9 and 12)
Ultimate starters in 4 price categories: Vostok Amphibia; Hamilton Khaki Field; Longines Spirit, and Omega AT.
ОтветитьThe Glashutte is beautiful, but I’ve lusted after the Longines Zulu Time for far too long 😂
ОтветитьIn the video you should a mesh bracelet on a Zenith chronometer revival (37mm). What make of mesh bracelet is that? I love it on the retro case.
ОтветитьI own a few of those watches and I can't argue with any of them. However, for starters I would add the Hamilton Khaki Field, Cartieer Tank Extras Large and one of the many cool watches by Nomos: probablly the Tangente. Also, I would definitely go with the Breitling Navitimer. Great video.
ОтветитьMy first (and only... so far) luxury watch was an Omega Seamaster 300 Heritage... I still love it! I'm wearing it right now!
ОтветитьI am curious what you think of the enthusiast community view on Rolex and Omega watches 10 years ago and how it has changed
ОтветитьWas expecting a Cartier in there.
ОтветитьGADA, Omega AT Black Lacquer : FIELD, IWC Spitfire : DIVER, GO SeaQ Big Date : TRAVEL, Omega World Timer Ti : DRESS, Cartier Tank : VINTAGE, Rolex Submariner 16800 : DIGITAL, Casio 9400
ОтветитьOmega... well, we better stop right here
ОтветитьTank Louis and Rolex Explorer 40 would be the only two I would ever need
ОтветитьHello. Thanks for the great video. The white OP is a great choice. The Sea Q is unbelievable with its finish. They would make a great three watch collection with the mark xx.
ОтветитьID Guy, not sure why we need to start over. The great thing about watch collecting is that no 2 journeys are the same, and our tastes change as our lives evolve. I am just saying no need to start over to add any of the watches you highlighted!
Ответить— Glashutte Original makes many appealing models at affordable prices. But the mismatched hands on the SeaQ makes it a pass for me.
— GMTs are nice, but I love the World Timer format.
As always, I really appreciate all of your content. Your comments are always thoughtful yet down to earth and to the point. I agree with you on the AT. My first Omega was a SMP 300M and my 2nd was... you guessed it, a Speedmaster. While I still love both of them, I somehow feel guilty for not getting an AT because that's the piece I really wanted. Instead I went with two most well known Omegas. I'm happy that my first Swiss watch was a beautiful Zulu Time. It will always hold a special place in my collection.
ОтветитьYou're making my life even more difficult 😄 love the spotlight on the U50. It's a great understated design (apologies for the conflict of expressions) and I hope one day they'll make the tagimented steel models in smaller size.
ОтветитьI bought a $20 Casio while in Seoul, traveling with my best friends, the summer before COVID. Didn’t know I’d collect watches at the time. So much has changed since then…
Three years later, I got married, and my father-in-law gifted me a Longines Master Collection Day-Date. This was the watch that started it all.
After deep diving into the world of watches, Rolex was next. It’s what my father wears, and what my grandfather wore. I saved for a year, did my research, and bought a 116710LN through an AD’s Rolex CPO program. My mother and father were there with me.
After getting back to the city where I’ve worked for 12 years, and being on “the list” for 6 months, I got the call from the Rolex Boutique. Me and my wife went and picked up a Date-just 36, domed bezel, oyster bracelet, green dial. An absolute beauty.
I live across the world from where I grew up, and where my family still lives. These two Rolex watches will always be a reminder of how far I’ve come, and where my home is.
What would I change?
Nothing, but I look forward to adding to my collection in 2025.
omega needs to bring back the 90s specs. thin and elegant
ОтветитьMannnn I was watching this video thinking, it’s gotta be Glashutte Original SeaQ. The whole time I’m like WHERES THE SEAQ!!!!
Hope you get one someday it’s fantastic
What I learned is to just stick to sports watches
ОтветитьNivada Grenchen, GO, and Zenith? Outstanding
ОтветитьGood list. I like most of these
ОтветитьIf I could start again, my first watch would have been a Seiko Tuna. Second watch would have been Omega Planet Ocean. Beyond that, difficult to decide.
ОтветитьSome great picks here. Unusually I found myself gravitating towards the Chronograph’s.
The Nivada Grenchen is such a cool piece. Military inspired I believe and can be had for such a good price. The Breitling Top Time too. As you said, incredibly underrated and great colour ways available. The Zenith Chronomaster Original, what more can I say. El Primero, King of Chronographs in my book. I would take those out of the ones you have listed and chuck in a fourth (the SeaQ) for good measure 😉
If choosing myself, I would pick a used Panerai Luminor or possibly a Radiomir Black Seal, then a used Zenith Chronomaster Original or A384 as my Chronograph. Lastly I would wait patiently for a new Rolex Polar Explorer II as my GMT Watch. All bases covered with a three piece collection.
On second thoughts, the Explorer II would work as a waterproof Watch so I could probably change the Panerai for a used Grand Seiko Omiwatari hand wound Spring Drive Watch which would be more of a formal dressier piece.
Great video as always boet. Enjoy your holiday! ✊
Glashutte is the winner here
ОтветитьGreat video, intriguing idea. I think I’d push harder for the one and done, and go for a more expensive material. I love my submariner, and I’d buy one again, but the Cookie Monster. Most likely only I would know it was gold, or other watch collectors, which I like the idea of. Or, the VC overseas with blue dial. I’d definitely go for quality of quantity this time. I’d have space for a dress watch too.
ОтветитьFunnily enough, AMZWATCH's replicas are perfect for people who can actually afford a luxury watch. Because in those social circles, it wouldn't matter and everybody would just assume it's real. You have a yacht and a beach house in Tuscany, of course that replica is real. There isn't a millionaire out there going around with a jeweller's loupe to scrutinize their acquaintance's watch. They'll just go "Oh is that a Patek? Nice, I should really get my hands on one of those, they look great."
ОтветитьI'm definitely looking forward to the next video for breitling top time
ОтветитьExcuse the different upload time today (I'll be travelling during our usual Saturday slot)
BUT, Starting Over. I sometimes think what it would be like wiping the slate clean and restarting the watch hobby.
What watch would you choose given all that we've seen over the last few years if you were to begin again? 🥃
