From this scene to the Avengers standing in New York while the camera pans around them... damn that was an incredible moment in cinema. There had never been anything else like it before. Glad I got to enjoy it all as it unfolded.

By “we” does he mean the avengers, or fury?

At the end of iron man 1, when fury showed up, I was immediately like "oh shit, they're really gonna try to do The Avengers?!" Multiple movies all culminating in a super movie... For all you young people, at the time, something like that was... Ridiculous. Unthinkable. Yet they kept throwing out these post credits scenes, and none of the movies bombed... Once they announced the Thor and Cap films, it was definitely on. Only a total catastrophe could have prevented it by then, there was too much invested by that point.

Even then, when they did Avengers and it BLEW EVERYONE'S MINDS, they shocked me AGAIN, with that end credits scene. I saw Thanos and was like "no... No way. No WAY they're going to do Infinity War. That's.... Insane." The four movies they did to set UP Avengers was one thing, but Infinity War? That would take... A dozen more films to do right. No studio would ever risk that.

What the MCU has done in the last couple of decades was just flat impossible. Whatever else happens with those films, I'll always salute them for taking such a crazy risk and giving us something truly unique.

Did this even lead to anything? I mean, it set up the baseline to show that those movies were connected, but other than that... did anything happen with it? What did Tony and Ross have to do with each other other than the Accords later on? As in... years in the future?

I know it’s a tired useless argument at this point but I wish Norton could have stayed in the MCU as Banner. Ruffalo is great but with The Hulk movie, Norton owned the role as much as RDJ owned Stark as far as I’m concerned.
One thing I hate is when Hollywood replaces one actor with another for the same character. It’s why I kind of gave up on James Bond after Roger Moore. It’s also why I never got into the Batman movies until Christian Bale took the role. I thought that DC should have kept Bale for the Justice League movie. Affleck was good but Bale was Bruce Wayne.

This scene makes it very sinful of Tony to be working with Ross of all people in Civil War as he knows firsthand what type of person he is and what he did to Bruce his "friend".

I just found this out today but the real reason Stark was there was because Coulson sent him. Shield was being forced by higher ups to exonerate and have abomination join the team. They sent Stark to ask Ross to free him because Coulson knew Stark would piss Ross off so much he would say no out of spite.
