Cast pistons are fine for street applications.

Its the grain structure of the metal, one is pored and one is compressed, the meturagry with a high silica content will prevent expantion seizure

I hope that was a forged piston that was forged out of spec and was going to need some machining.

You know that the forged piston is expensive ?
Only a good solution if you add additional power in the engine block.

Dear standart owner with a economic standart engine, I think you never ever need a forged piston set with non standart rings. And dont like to bu stronger conrods.

But = Yes the sluminium is more dense and the crystal structure is far better than ...

Dear standart owner if you have a lot of additional money left ...
... invest these money for anticorrosion.

Just my two cents.

Your choise !
Yes it is nice to drive a standart engine with more power and torque (after changed a lot of parts and buy some forged pistons) . My word before we took the engine in all parts and searched for additional torque and hoesepower ...

The engine will run with higher icombustion prrassure and more revs. It will drink more liquid power fluid and need best oil plus care of an expert and in shorter distances.

Alternativ = Buy a bigger engine or car and you get for low money ...

But impressive dhort video.
Difficult to say if both hits have the same impact power and angle and more ...

Yes a forged piston ist mutch stronger than a cast piston.

At last = Thank you for your video.

Hit the forged on the thin spot not the thickest spot. The strongest chain is only as strong as its weakest link

Detonation really does hit the piston as hard as a hammer ??
Can someone elaborate?

The only positive to cast or hypereutectic piston is less expansion rate. That way they can run a tighter clearance. It increases longevity and mileage but sacrifices brute strength needed in high horsepower applications.

So when would a sledge hammer hit the edge of the piston while it's running so try again there there's nothing in the motor gonna hit against the edge of the piston while it's running

Forged pistons can still break the real fix is to prevent the detonation.

Forged is much more forgiving than cast as I already broke my stock pistons a few years back but have been on forged engines since and they hold up

Ring grooves last a long time (no ring wiggle) with forged pistons so they use less oil. Forged pistons use chrome rings. Cast pistons get iron rings. All new cars come with forged pistons and chrome rings. Most typical replacement pistons are cast.

His brain automatically withdrew some force from the forged piston because he had doubts whether it would actually damage it. Material properties and science apply all the time
