Inactivity during the pandemic/fires and menopause led to serious hip arthritis and sarcopenia of legs/glutes. Too weak and painful to climb stairs, sit down, stand up, and kneel. I went from athletic yoga teacher to cane walker in 2 years. To recover, I’ve changed diet and re-started exercise working thru the pain. It’s an uphill effort, but small progress has been made and will hopefully continue. Against orthopedic advice, I cycled to keep joints moving since they were getting too tight from strength training. Stretching helps but strengthening has been most effective in regaining mobility. I have to unlearn all the compensatory movement I developed over time injured. Exercise, anti-inflammatory diet, and focusing on proper movement has been key to getting back to “normal”

You leave the breast-bone down and the top by the collar-bones goes up and away from your tail-bone. That way your body gets longer - nice.

Hi, just found your video. I haven’t yet had the opportunity to try any of the exercises, but just reading that there are others out there with the same problem as me helped me a lot. I have had right hip pain for nearly 2 years and last summer the pain left me but I was left with the lost ability to stand up straight. I can no longer make a meal, walk any distance etc. The doctors look at me like I am crazy. Thanks again.

I had ruptured disk in my back and deteriorated ones. I started bending over from pan. I had back surgery and they fused 3 areas and cleaned it out. I did ok, but it has been 5 years and I am again walking hunch back.

Unfortunately I was never able to exercise after this chemo. It's myofascial disorder that causes scar tissue that never goes away and it's so frustrating. I've had it for 30 years now and I'm a mess.

I became chair-bound when I was taking off opioid medicine it really helped me get out and exercise and be pain-free from a long illness do too bad chemo. So I sat in a chair because it was the only time I had no pain. And eventually I could not straighten up no matter how hard I tried.😢

This so applies to me. However, at 81 i am fairly active, walking, cycling, home gym etc. One of my problems is cramp in my quads. Especially at night. I had no chance of completing this first part. Immediate painful cramp. Will have to work on that first. many thanks.

This was so extremely helpful! Ive been completely bent over for two days, heating pad, hot bath with epsom salt, NOTHING was helping! I did these exercises for literally 5 minutes and was able to stand up so much straighter! Not completely up but WAY way better and the pain had lessened somewhat!

I have lymphedema and edema in my legs and had wounds and doctors was telling me I had to stay in bed keep them elevated deal rooms which went on for about a year so now for 2 years I lost the strength in my back and legs to even walk where it's totally disabled to me I can't clean house watch dishes can't work anymore had to follow disability and it's been really hard for me that I can't walk I could barely move around a little with a walker but I would like to strengthen my leg and lower back muscles to where I could stand up straight and be able to walk and get around more I don't ever even get to see the light of day outside because I'm just about confined to my bed in my room looking at nothing but walls if I stand longer than 3 minutes my whole body gets so weak it starts shaking and start having pain and my lower back and believe it or not I used to be very active I work 30 years as a CNA in nursing homes and was always on the go hanging with friends are going to the grocery store running errands doing laundry cleaning house I haven't been inside of a grocery store for 2 years now

Changing jobs from being active with children to working alone either standing still or sitting was when this started.
I didn’t pay attention to it for years. It improved when I began adding short walks into my schedule. It got worse when I began working from home and stopped taking movement break. Now one hip hurts and hinders walking. I’m also bent at an angle when I walk! I often press my spine flush to a wall to force myself straight.

30+ years as a massage therapist (bending over...I am tall...with a very deep lumbar curve) unable to stand upright for over a year, until I had to have emergency lumbar fusion surgery. Four months post op, I STILL cannot stand upright but am still VERY restricted on what I can and cannot do (still no BLT). I just started real PT but I will try some of your exercises today to see if they can add to my recovery. Thanks!!!

3 months now, been running heavy equipment for 8 months bouncing around for 15 hrs a day and I have trouble sitting down, standing up, rolling over in bed almost every simple every day task is affected by my back pain. The worst position to be in is laying on my back with my legs straight out it almost puts me in tears. Constantly in pain and to stretch any muscles is nearly impossible, any ideas?

Im 37 and I havent recovered from straining my low back 2 years ago by repeatedly lowering my baby into the crib and staying in the bent position as long as I needed to make sure he stayed asleep before removing my hands from underneath him. He was a VERY needy baby and didnt want to be left alone. It didnt hurt while in that position but one night after holding that position longer than usual I could hardly lift the baby or walk the next day. I iced and stretched and with time its gotten better but still flares up especially after standing for long periods or carrying my now toddler. Was thinking abt seeing a Dr but found this video and felt a little relief after trying these stretches. Im hopeful it will continue to help. Thanks
