I was actually there that night for my first live show outside the indies. Upon starting to watch this video I actually went back and watched the match. He was right to an extent. The match was good, not revolutionary but pretty good. Ill have to rewarch the whole card to make a MY OWN (for what it's worth) opinion of if it's best match of the night
ОтветитьI went back and rewatched the match and I felt it was solid. While it was back and forth there really wasn't any "false finishes", a lot of near falls but nothing where a person would think it was over. Also both have had a lot of better matches in and out of WWE. The best part imo was actually JR, a minute after a promo showcasing the past winners, says how Y2J was looking to become the first ever King of the Ring.
I watched the second match as well which was Test vs Lesnar, the crowd wasn't as into it but definitely not dead like Jericho said. There was no RVD who was massively over, it was heel vs heel, and no disregard to Test but come on everyone knew who was winning. The crowd also got more into it near the end especially when it looked like Test may win, and heck they even had more false finishes as Lesnar kicked out of a pump handle slam and a big boot, which I think both were finishers for Test.
Overall my guess is Jericho didn't see the match getting overly praised, or people probably didn't call it match of the night and he threw a tantrum which by the way I loved when that was his WCW gimmick.
Please do a watch along for 2002 RVD vs Jericho.
Ответить"I can HUMBLY state, we stole the show"
ОтветитьSounds like he is leaving a voice-mail to his ex after a bottle of wine and a breakup!
ОтветитьChris Jericho is like the wrestling equivalent of Aaron Sorkin. When they started out in the late nineties/early 2000’s they were seen as the most exciting new talent in their field and achieved huge critical and commercial success, but as time went on they got old and arrogant and were completely high on their own supply, and started thinking that they really were the best, and now they just lash out on the internet at anyone who criticises them.
The fact that Sorkin is a corporate centrist “liberal” douche and Jericho is a science denying Trump supporter are the only daylight I can see between them.
"Baby goes to sleep now." lmao I thought Jericho was signing off like that.
ОтветитьWould that bout of insomnia be mixed with a drop or two of vodka? 🤔
ОтветитьAm I out of touch? No. It's the Children who are wrong.
ОтветитьWatched the match, and it was actually very good. A little bit of a weak ending (Jericho gets crotched on the rope and crawls to the perfect spot to get frog splashed), but fairly good pacing, and some really nice spots.
After watching the match, my question would be how many people were actually shitting on it? Seems unlikely to me that it was more than a few people saying it was a bad match, and if so, that makes this online tantrum all the worse.
They did wrestle twice in ECW in 1996. Once in a match that was supposed to be on ECW's Hardcore TV (I believe) but did not air due to not living up to "expectations." It was released years later and the match itself is alright.
I did watch this match mentioned from King of the Ring 2002 on the Cock and it was alright. If you liked or did not like the match I understand why. You also have to remember in King of the Ring matches you also had a time limit as well.
Actually in this case Jericho was right. It was the best match on the card and deserved the rating he gave it. It was a great match.
ОтветитьMeh Brock vs Test was better
ОтветитьCrazy how many views Jim gets compared to other wrestling personalities
ОтветитьMost of the reviews of that match, on that website, were positive. It was like one negative for every three positive or indifferent. I know this because in the early 2000s someone reposted the whole thing while arguing to us that Chris Jericho was a jackass, also citing other incidents that I cannot remember in detail because it was nearly twenty years ago and we didn't take this guy's side, even if we did admit Chris Jericho lashing out online was silly.
Me: Well, it's still silly and after all these years that guy may have actually had a point. But at least Chris thanked the positive reviewers.
Jim Cornette: "He's not even trying to be a heel!"
I hated basically every RVD match. Never liked Jericho either. I'm guessing the match sucked
ОтветитьLast describing Jericho is the same as describing himself
ОтветитьBABY 👶 GOESE TO SLEEP 💤 NOW 😆 🤣 😂
ОтветитьLoL.. that was a good match
ОтветитьAlso that kotr was great.. Brock won.. Kurt made Hogan tap.. I watch that ppv often
ОтветитьJericho has always been a second rate hack.
ОтветитьI remember he deleted my comment on my space when I made fun of him for cutting his hair. LoL
ОтветитьChris Jericho is a shell of his former self
ОтветитьThis is one of my favorite of Jericho's. It shows how deranged he is of himself. And Jim just laughing because he doesn't know what else to do. I knew lately Chris has been nuts but I had no clue he has been like this that long. I remember his character back then was high on himself but I had no clue he was being himself.
ОтветитьProof positive that Jericho was losing his brain well before AEW.
Also Attack of the Clones sucks.
Baby had insomnia 2 sentences before baby went to sleep??😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
ОтветитьI remeber when this was reported on in the Apter mags, completely changed my opinion on Jericho, who was at the time on of my favourites in wrestling but after his tantrum I was done.
ОтветитьTLC 4 ladder match 12 minutes 30 seconds in Chris Jericho bulldogs bubba Ray off of ladder greatest bump I've ever seen from bubba Ray of course he flies off the ladder arms to his side head first into the ring and just looks like he dies it's beautiful
ОтветитьDave ranked it 3 and 3/4 stars ... and to give Jericho a little, it was the highest ranked match of the night.
ОтветитьJust curious, what's the proof that he actually wrote that? Were verified profiles a thing back then?
ОтветитьSounds like Jericho was getting suckered in by trolls long before Facebook and Twitter. In some fairness, that KOTR semi was a good match, those two had so many quality ones in that timeframe.
ОтветитьAfter seeing this, I went back and watched the match he's talking about here between he and RVD, and I agree with Chris, that was a very solid match, it was very entertaining...
Ответитьif you actually read his post you can tell he's insane
Ответитьidk about the best match, but RVD's best WWF/E storyline angle was his involvement in the feud between Kane & Shane O'Mac.
ОтветитьThat match got 3.75 Stars from Dave Meltzer btw.
ОтветитьChris Jericho has been a heel for so long he began to believe his own hype.
ОтветитьDave gave this match 3.75 stars and that seems to be the average that I can find. Honestly it probably was the best match on that ppv!
ОтветитьThe Grand Army of the Cult of Cornette!
Travis is the man.
Chris Jericho is a legend to be honest. So is Jim, Brians just Jims friend. Jericho is one of the best wrestlers ever. Top 5 easily
ОтветитьThis is one of my favorite clips. Chris Jericho sounds bitter and I can't help but laugh. Because I have never heard another wrestler go off on the fans for not liking their match.
ОтветитьThis is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. Imagine accomplishing as much as Jericho has and still having a shit-fit because some marks on the internet didn't suck you off till completion. No wonder he's a Trump fan
ОтветитьI went on Peacock and looked for KOTR 2002 to watch this match since he was bitching and moaning about it cause I didn’t remember it, but honestly it was a decent match, about what you’d expect from Jericho and RVD, it wasn’t anything to write home about, would’ve def fit on a Raw or Smackdown show but all in all a good match!!!
ОтветитьJericho actually warned us that all of his matches will suck because he compared them with Attack of the Clones, the fucking goof.
ОтветитьYou just know RVD was smoking and chilling in his hotel room thinking, "I've got a sweet-ass life" at the same time Jericho was malding over his match not getting enough praise
ОтветитьEven though he was a heel at the time this happened, this was not a heel segment. I went back just to see what all the fuss was about. It reminded me a lot of today's wrestling where people are flipping all over the place. Of course I should of known that with RVD. But I didn't have a problem with the match. I was surprised it was the first match. RVD won it to go forward in the King of the Ring tournament. It was actually the last KOTR pay per view. But the match wasn't as good as he made it sound.
ОтветитьJason "The Solomonster" Solomon talked about this on an episode of his podcast 'The Solomonster Sounds Off', before.
Good times...
The way CJ talks about himself he must think he’s JC.
🤣
I guarantee rvd was high AF calling Jericho a prick to sabu while y2k was losing his shit on line
ОтветитьLate posting, but isn't it funny how Jericho since at least 2002 behaves like thr dmarks he criticises and yet always has a convenient excuse such as insomnia for behaving like one. Or sometimes its a "trusted source" who found thr post, like give us a break 😂
ОтветитьI GUESS ROOM SERVICE WÀS CLOSED LOL
