A lot of stories and Mythology are all one and the same, a witch is just an enlightened being, not scary or hagged, the occult just means hidden but people fear what they don't understand and see evil, reality is in the eye of the beholder.

Cemeteries are peaceful beautiful places. I used to explore the beautiful ones many years ago on the NSW Central Coast where I live in Australia. We have a lot of country coastal cemeteries. Bless yourself and say the Lord’s Prayer before you enter a cemetery. It’s very sacred ground and tread very carefully. I must go back and visit the cemeteries again. My mother and father used to visit a lot of cemeteries on our Sunday country drives when we lived in Sydney. My mother would collect little jars of dirt . I asked her why she did this but she never told me why. I do believe my mother is a witch. She is almost 100 years old. I don’t have anything to do with her because she is nasty and belligerent. She has always been like this and she is terrified of crucifixes. I brought one into mum and dads house many years ago. It was a gift from a devout Catholic and she went ballistic. Doors slammed and she was screaming at me to get that thing out of her house. Dad said she was like that for a day, he couldn’t settle her. My mother is completely obsessed with death and attending as many funerals in the area as she can, she loves going to peoples funerals. People she doesn’t even know. I don’t have anything to do with the occult. My stepsister is into it and she is a very dangerous person. She had my daughter who I am estranged from now practicing it as well. I am the opposite. I love God with all my heart and soul. In the past when I did attend family events I remember not being able to breath when I was around them, it’s as if they were sucking the light or life out of me. It would take me about two weeks to recover. There is a lot of evil in this world. Please protect yourself and stay safe. 🇦🇺🇺🇸 I thoroughly enjoyed your video. 🌟

Odd that they would hang people, especially one they deem a witch, on consecrated ground. I'm assuming the cemetery is consecrated ground. Furthermore, bury these so-called witches on consecrated ground. Makes for good halloween and paranormal tales .

When you "Respect" someone, then they've Earned Your Respect for Good Reasons......
When You FEAR Someone, There's NO RESPECT INVOLVED! Lol. I'm Just Sayin'....😱😳

I never thought of this as being witchcraft but I guess it is. I have known to ppl one could put fire from your body if you got burnt. The other could remove warts with some words a penny and then he buried it. I saw these things and a lot more. My grandmother's mother was full blooded Cherokee Indian. I still use a lot of the remedies. She lived to be 95 and never took any medicines and my sister and I never saw a doctor until we applied for jobs. The doctors thought we were crazy. My grandmother said if she could heal us we were going to die anyway.

It’s the respect for the dead, they might come out if you disturb them and follow you home and get back at you for disturbing them first. I’m sorry I was just kidding, but we were taught to have respect for the dead!

On one side of family was an Irish granny considered to have premonitions and "second sight" so she was called a seer/psychic. On the other side of my family was a Cherokee granny who used herbs to heal folks and also defined meanings of dreams. We also had generations of Irish diviners who found water, psychics who foretold events, and NUMEROUS ghost stories.

West away from the coming of the Lord. My grandma was a witch woman lol Southern Kentucky. She and her momma they delivered babies made salves, tentures, knew healing plants etc. My great grandma was a Cherokee and grandma was half Cherokee and German. My grandma delivered her last baby as a mountain midwife 2 yrs before I was born in 1964 it was her niece on April 1, 1964. They both lived in the mountains until they were in their late 80s. Grandma had 13 children and her mother delivered all but 2.

You should try to find my ancestor, he has an interesting story. His name was Robert Pell, I believe, and he was convicted of stealing or murdering a pig as a ten year old boy in England. His sentence was to be shipped over to America to work as an indentured slave. I think he got here when he was 12.

Traditions + circumstances!!
They buried her headed west, because west is the direction of death & change, in most old traditions worldwide.
IF the people still held onto bother old ideas, they may have buried her face-down as well, to “prevent her from rising-up” to the living world, & to make sure she was seen last, or never, on judgement day.
NOTE: all others were buried heads-east…the direction of new beginnings in just about all ancient traditions, & they got buried face-up, to be able to rise-up on judgement day (ancient Christian idea).
The community still knew she’d done greater good; & they were conscious of their feuding, murderous sins….If they’d refused to bury her in the community cemetery, that would have piled way more serious sins upon community, spiritually.
Those kinds of traditions & situations, would have allowed them—actually compelled them—to bury a “witch” in sacred ground.

Appalachia communities were a wonderful melting pot for ancient traditions of many kinds, from whatever groups lived there & shared beliefs & ideas.
The deep quiet of forests & mountains, deserts or where ever, with no motors, electricity or gadgets, is highly conducive to very interesting ideas taking-hold of the mind!

I've lived in Fannin for years, and have visited Tilley Bend numerous times. I've never felt uneasy, or that something was wrong with the area. However, a few miles down the road in Morganton is an area that is very disturbed but I don't know, and no one really knows the story behind it. We all call it The Chapel. My grandparents and other family members grew up in the area of The Chapel and have some pretty hair-raising experiences. You also just feel so uneasy in the area, like it's not a good place to be around. Great, informational video.
