Im in my first step of choosing the medical field... I think i like it... i dont have any other likings or ideas for my future either... do you think im making the right choice? I feel stuck after listening to this... really... but im not blaming anyone... i just want more advice...

My biggest regret was going to the doctor in the first place they almost killed me with pills and damaged my vision severely

When I failed at becoming a Dr, my life crumbled. I didn’t know what to do, I was lost. It took me 10 years to bounce from that failure.
When we have a goal like that as definition of success and if we can’t achieve it, it will destroy us.
Now I enjoy life, enjoy the process of working on my character l, enjoy my children, family, and do the things I enjoy. Turns I didn’t enjoy medicine as much as I thought. I worked in a lab in a hospital for 6.5 years.
After search I found that what I truly enjoy is music. I was way off on my career choice. I am happy doing what I love and have zero regrets, and I am actually happy that my medical endeavors didn’t work out. They didn’t work out because it wasn’t what I was about.

This is heart breaking

as a pharmacy school dropout, I think switching to Computer science was the best choice for me, I just want flexibility to enjoy my life, not be a slave to impress and satisfy my never satisfied parents lmao

i am tired of going to doctors, waiting weeks/months for appts, driving in scary traffic to get there, waiting for hours to be seen…for a 5-10 minute encounter with a doctor who didnt even glance at my chart and wont listen to any questions as they race out the door. next! i am 67, have been ill for four years after awful bout H1N1 flu . i’m done. dont care anymore. ready to go i cant take the fatigue and pain anymore

It is so damn true about what he mentioned. Personal life matters! My cousin, she is a surgent by design. Since we are Asian, her family "brainwash" her that "saving people's life" is the highest form of success in life and nothing else can beat that. She is rarely at home and she even rent and stay in a small room located a few hundreds meters away from hospital she is working so she can easily commute. Her parents stay alone by themselves and only exchange updates through phone calls daily. Every Lunar New Year, during family reunion, the awkwardness is through the roof. On the dinning table, the only topic can talk is about doctor topics and report her achievements. The conversation momentum die down really quick as if like inviting a noble stranger into family reunion and we cannot talk something humor/dumb because we don't want to be looked like idiots.

I wish we could stat obvious facts like, masks are ineffective against viruses, filter a little bacteria, and create people to look like emotionless unidentifiable objects (not to mention the litter).
mRNA tech has not been tested for anything that it claims to be effective and safe against. You never know for sure if you get a bad batch, too much, or maybe just a placebo. You roll the dice.

Too bad doctors are paid by Pharma to keep their mouths shut.

Seek purpose and fulfillment, that is the key to happiness as a Doctor. Forget the ego, be humble and know your privileged to be a doctor! That’s what I tell my medical students. Don’t get lost, always be you!

Going to med school is Highly expensive and it takes year to finish med school then get a residency rightfully so because being a doctor is a serious job that not just anybody can do, but before you go to med school ask yourself Is it what you really want? And is it worth it, if you want to be a doctor for the money you won't be happy, I wanted to be a doctor but after seeing how hard it's gonna be I'm starting to have second thoughts.

I graduated last year in medicine and I have one year of residency behind me. I think I am going to leave this job…

One of the reasons why we keep losing doctors is because they get sucked into the pharmaceutical industry to make prescriptions and sales*. Alot of people dont know this, but doctors are constantly being visited by salesreps for big pharma and feed them lies about new meds that have been fraudulantly approved through bribes by the FDA. Once you start going to these "all paid medical conventions", consider your carreer over. You patients arent patients anymore they become customers and guinea pigs.. Those salesreps also act like stalkers. They show up at your office at random, have stalked and profiled each and every doctor to know what they like to eat, their hobbies etc to get close to them and *break the ice Anyone who is interested i strongly urge u to watch the episodes Dopesick.

Important to note that's not discussed is a fairly high suicide rate with MD"s, Dentists,....why? The stress is unbearable with killer schedules and study routines in the prime of your life with absolutely no social life leaving me incredibly exhausted, depressed, loss of self esteem etc etc. I left also after 2 years and best .ove I've made. I think the excruciating process to become a doctor is almost evil. Doctors literally have to give their soul for just the chance to be a doctor. Why does the educational system have to make it so ducking hard? Our brain hasn’t evolved for this kind of shit. Our poor meat computers have to undergo unbearable stress…is this even a good way to learn?? I doubt it. Yet the suicides, misery, etc that medical school inflicts doesn’t do a single dent in how medical schools are operating…and their is people on only fans shaking their ass making more money/getting more recognition. Why are we treating people who are supposed to be the healers of society like utter trash??? Why does it have to be this way??? Why can’t we change the rule book?

This is why doctors are cold assholes. They shut off their emotions so they can keep doing what they do. I understand their job, but most have terrible bedside manners and forget that they're working with people, not animals.

I know the medical field is my interest. I have a bunch of titles like being an MA, CNA, CPT and so forth. But I don't know what's the next big step for me. I get told to go back to school but no one really talks to me about what it'd be like. Why must it be like that? I'd like to actually know what'll be the steps REQUIRED (in precision) to become a doctor or RN. Either one I could do next.

I'm thinking of applying to med school in a few years (currently 30). Since I work in rehab and have my own patients now, I honestly want to take my time getting to this next goal. I'm not in a hurry because the burnout is real. I still want to take vacations and make "as little sacrifices" as possible so I don't become that insane student that doesn't have a life. Been there done that. There's more to life and as we get older its really not about putting ourselves last and abandoning ourselves... all in the name of success. Balance is key-- work hard but rest and have fun too!! Remember your why!!

this made me cry. i am still a teen now and always dreamed to be a doctor . i work hard for perfect scores and now i finds that i dont get them like i used to.when all the kids are enjoying their schooldays, i am in severe depression about my marks and i feel like dropping out of school. the thing i am asking myself now is.........being happy is just the thing u want. my parents are both doctors and they are so happy that they are doctors. they say they loved studying . so what i mean, if u love to do something and u work hard for it, u will get it. but when u work hard and hate what you are working on.......... even though it can get you to who you wanna be........ u'll be like how i am now, feeling hopeless in life just when i am 14 year old.

I am a first year med school and I always put in the past work above everything. I sacrificed my health,my time spend family, my time spend with friends, hobbies... everything. I am bored and fed up of memorizing. I don't know how to break this cycle taking into consideration that despite all my effort I am in a situation I'm failing my exams... I am wasting my life...

HAHAHAHA. Being a doctor is not the most exceptional position anymore. Don't forget to mention. Slave is a synonym for employee.

Ah I am scared now. I applied to High Schools that have pre-med because I want to be a doctor but my parents say I should be a dentist instead. I can't change my options anymore anyways.
